                                          Autumn News from the
                                          Coads Green W.I.
The Coads Green W.I.have realised that,
along with many organisations, that our
activities need to remain on hold for a while.
That has not stopped President, Linda Willan,
and the committee members from meeting
outside and discussing ways of bringing
                                          everyone together.
On Tuesday, September 8th, before the Rule
of Six, nine members met at Siblyback Lake
to enjoy one another’s company. It was a
wonderful opportunity to catch up and have
Coads Green W.I.member, Jackie Stephens
on a group walk around Siblyback lake. a socially distanced drink and cake at the
                                          café.
It is very sad that we lost a much loved
member, Mona Pengelly, in August. She
became a member of the chapel and joined
the W.I.in 2005. Members have been
privileged to hear Mona speak about her
fascinating life. She will be greatly missed.

6. REVIEW OF CLERKS REPORT
6.1 Old Graveyard – Complaints have been received from the Parishioners whom have recently visited the
Graveyard, as they have found it difficult to find their loved ones due to the overgrown grass. The
issues have now been remedied. To prevent this issue from re occurring the Parish Council will take
over the maintenance from Cornwall Council for 2021 and will receive a grant of around £280 towards
the cost. Councillor D Daniells proposed with Councillor R Randall 2nd. All Councillors are in favour.
6.2 Parish Graveyard – Mr Robert Latham has written to the Parish Council confirming that Trebartha Est
has no objection to the Parish Council extending part of the graveyard into the Play Area. The plot was
gifted some 70 years ago to the Parish Council but papers relating to this are no longer held by the
Solicitors. Mr T Rattray has been instructed to register the Land to the Parish Council and once
completed the Parish Council will submit “Change of Use” to Cornwall Council.

6.3 Remembrance Sunday Service – The Clerk has contacted both Rev Jo Smart and PCSO Sarah Ross
and have confirmed their attendance on Sunday 8th November at 3pm. Councillors wish to continue
with the planning of the Service and would rather cancel if any of the Government Guidelines change
towards gatherings. Councillors would like to invite Mr Butter to lay the wreath.
6.4 Play Area Inspection – The Play Area has been Inspected with a reasonable report. Some items do
need to be addressed but none with “High Risk”. The Chairman and Clerk to visit the Play Area and
refer to the report to create an action plan. Mrs C Billinge and Mr Martin Budge have also been sent a
copy of the report for their information. Cllr Budge has requested the Clerk to apply for Grants to install
       further equipment.
6.5 Website – The Clerk has been investigating the website currently used for the Parish Council.
Unfortunately, as the company currently used WIX, uses templates and therefore personalisation and
creativity are lacking. Also lacking is the ability to provide the necessary criteria for the new regulations
on websites, being accessible for all including those with a disability i.e. Blindness. The Clerk has
contact Mr Andrew Foster, whom has experience in the Website on which the Parish Council is need of.

Coads Green Methodist Chapel
Yipee- we’re back! I can’t believe it has been 30 weeks since the last service in
our chapel.

On Sunday 11th October, Coads Green Chapel opened its doors once more to all
those who wanted and needed to attend after the forced closure due to Coronavi-
rus. Many were understandably apprehensive, not knowing what to expect, but
we need not have worried.

On arriving at the Church grounds, we were greeted by an army of willing volun-
teers who guided us through the now familiar procedure: queuing 2 metres apart,
sanitising and giving contact details, following a one way system, using a face
mask and setting in household bubbles.

25 people attended the service in total which was led by 2 of our own members,
Ken and Margaret Ridley. We started with a prayer before the first hymn which of
course we were not allowed to sing but thanks to the screen and sound system,
we could follow along with it. It was so difficult to sit and listen without joining
in and I must admit to humming along behind my face mask. One thing I did
learn through this was how important the words to hymns are, something that is
quite often overlooked when you are singing with gusto. Ken read ‘Lord of the
Dance’ and the words took on a new meaning. Perhaps it’s something we could
do more often.

The service ended with another well-known hymn, ‘We Shall Go Out With Joy’,
and after the conclusion that is just what we did.

This was an experimental event, but we hope they can continue as planned at
10am on the second and fourth Sunday of each month.
