RECYCLE BC TO MANAGE RECYCLING COLLECTION
Starting July 1, 2020, Recycle BC will begin to directly manage residential recycling
collection in West Vancouver.
• weekly recycling collection schedule and guidelines will remain the same
• this will not impact garbage or organics collection
• no action is required on your part at this time
Recycle BC and the District will provide more information in spring 2020.

Coexisting with wildlife
Many wildlife encounters on the North Shore can be prevented by responsibly managing garbage, food scraps and
other attractants. Feeding bears, even unintentionally, is against the law.
How to responsibly manage your garbage and food scraps:
• store all materials inside the house, shed or • wrap your food scraps in newspaper or paper bags to
secure enclosure until the morning of collection minimize odours and mess
• wash your Green Can with a mild soap or vinegar and • freeze plate scrapings and food scraps until
water solution to reduce odours collection day

North Shore Transfer Station
The North Shore Transfer Station provides one-stop service for
recycling, yard trimmings and waste disposal.
The designated recycling area accepts large loads of curbside
recycling and recyclable materials that aren’t accepted at the corrugated cooking oil beverage
curb. Look for the designated recycling area beside the main
cardboard containers
transfer station entrance.
Residents can also drop off gypsum/drywall, mattresses, food scraps
(10 litres or less) and green waste for recycling at the North Shore
Transfer Station. Charges do apply for these items—for more info visit

Provincial Take-Back Programs pesticides flammable appliances &

Many commonly disposed of items are recyclable through Provincial
Take-Back Programs and are accepted for recycling at designated
drop-off depots. To find the correct drop-off location for your
material, visit rcbc.ca/recyclepedia or call the Recycling Hotline
at 604-RECYCLE (732-9253). Not all depots accept all items.You can also read
