President’sUpdat e Page 4 September 2021 ACADEMIC SERVICES Campus Signage and Wayfinding Project IVC faculty, classified staff, and administrators staff are working with representa- tives of M. Arthur Gensler Jr. and Associates, Inc. to develop an integrated strategy for signage, identification of key locations, and wayfinding throughout the campus. Students will learn about nursing transfer programs. ACADEMIC SERVICES Upcoming Events Public Services Summit will take place on November 9 & 10, 2021 Full days of interactive activities from IVC programs (Police Academy, Fire Tech, EMT, and Corrections) High School students will meet and connect with industry professionals. President’sUpdat e Page 6 September 2021 ACADEMIC SERVICES Introduction to Securities Trading Course being offered October 7th and November 18th from 6-9 p.m. Securities Trading is a not-for-credit class that provides an introduction to financial products, markets, trading strategies, and techniques. Class will introduce financial data and charts, analyze market conditions, develop trading plans, and perform trades using the Thinkorswim (ToS) trading platform. President’sUpdat e Page 8 September 2021 STATE UPDATE League Priority Bills AB 1456 (Medina) Financial Aid Reform Would reform the state’s system of financial aid by: Creating two new Cal Grant Awards focused on either four-or two-year students. Significantly expanding the number of students eligible for awards. Two-year award focused on access costs. Location: Governor’s Desk AB 928 (Berman) Transfer Introduced to smooth out the ADT approval, adoption, and utilization process, this bill would: Create a committee charged to make recommendations to the legislature on ways to improve the transfer process. Require the UC and CSU to adopt one unified transfer pathway. Require community college students to be automatically enrolled in an ADT program. Those who intend to transfer to the UC or prefer a traditional AA would need to opt-out. Location: Governor’s Desk AB 1111 (Berman) Common Course Numbers Would require California community colleges to establish a common course numbering system.
