INTRODUCTION Entering our 18th season! The series were created in 2001 by GT Sport, in Spain. The Euroformula Open evolved from a national F3 championship into a continental series and one of the most interesting F3-based championships, with the best return on investment in the category. The Euroformula Open is enjoying a growing success in terms of excellence and quality of entries, raising interest, exposure and geographical expansion. Euroformula Open | 2018 Season
THE SERIES The Euroformula Open philosophy is to keep rules simple and stable during the years, maintain costs under control, visit only top-level circuits, offer professional level formation for drivers, and provide premium TV/media coverage. The current denomination clearly reflects the uniqueness of this successful series, which offers the best value for money and the best selection of venues, with top F-1 – graded tracks, among European single-seater formulae. In recent years, the series has attracted drivers from five continents: besides Europe, North and South America (Canada, USA, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil, Guatemala, etc) have been well represented, as well as Asia & Pacific (China, Malaysia, Australia, Thailand, Japan, etc.) and the Middle East (UAE, Lebanon, Israel, Kuwait). Formula 1 drivers such as Sebastian Vettel, Nico Rosberg, Sebastien Buemi, Roberto Merhi, Jaime Alguersuari, Carlos Sainz Jr. or María de Villota and others such as Ed Jones (IndyCar), Nicolas Prost (WEC), Miguel Molina (WEC) or Filipe Albuquerque (IMSA) chose the series in the past to pave their way towards the pinnacle of motorsports. The 2018 season will include eight rounds, where the Euroformula Open will share its event meetings THE EVENT with its sister GT series, the International GT Open, and other top racing series as TCR Europe, Radical European Masters, Alpine Cup, Formula Renault Eurocup….. Formula 3 will always be allocated in boxes. Format Friday • 3 free practice sessions (30’) or • 2 free practice sessions (40’) Saturday • 1 qualifying session (25’/30’) • Race 1: 35’ max. REGULATIONS The Euroformula Open is run with Dallara F312 cars. Toyota-based engines are provided directly by GT Sport and maintained by Piedrafita Sport. Tyres are mono-brand, provided by Michelin. The Euroformula Open is accesible to drivers with international licence (type C) and of 16 years of age. Euroformula Open | 2018 Season
REGULATIONS An Overall Champion title is awarded at the end of the season to the driver having scored most net points. Points system: 25 – 18 – 15 – 12 – 10 – 8 – 6 – 4 – 2 – 1, to the first 10 classified. Net total is based on 14 best race results. 1 point for pole position and 1 point for . fastest lap are awarded A Teams’ Trophy to the team having scored most points. A Rookie Trophy and a podium ceremony are established on a race basis, open to drivers debuting in the series in the on- going season. A Rookie Trophy is awarded at the end of the season. TV PRODUCTION 2018 TV production will be provided in FULL HD quality. In a standard event we use: • up to 2 TV trucks. • up to 14 HD fix cameras. • up to 2 RF cameras covering pit-lane and starting grid. • 2 Slow Mo HD cameras. • satellite mobile station for the uplink. • HD promotional cameras.
