Congregational Care Committee Congregational care provides comfort and support to the members of First Presbyterian Church and their families. We show God's love and serve the needs of others. There are 13 members of our committee. Barb Manyet, Jo Alexander, Jayne Black, Dolores Daidone, Barb Heister, Patti Koehler, Elizabeth Lotspeich, Anna Long, Sarah Messmer, Ailene Ridiman, Judy Sower, Karen Sower, Jenny Zell. Some of our members have certain duties but all will work and do whatever is needed for our congregation. Some examples of the ways the committee helps the congregation are: · Patti Koehler creates her own cards and sends them for illness, birth, as well as cards to shut-ins for their birthdays. · Rose on the altar in honor of a new birth. · Jayne Black gets the meal train moving and asks people in the congregation to provide meals for families dealing with illness, death, and birth. · Sarah Messmer orders a blanket to give to the parents at the time of a baptism or a cross or book for an older child. · Congregational care organizes drinks and treats to be served outside after church during July. · Also Sarah Messmer orders flowers from ft. Thomas florists to be given to mothers on mother's day. · We check the supplies in the kitchen and make sure everything is up to date. · Another thing this year, we provided treats for Pastor Samantha’s installation, and we also provided, through the meal train, meals for Pastor Samantha and her family while she is on maternity leave. It gives us the opportunity to be a part of God’s work to care for and show love to our congregation! We are very happy to be doing this!!! Worship and Music Committee The Worship and Music Committee provides whatever is necessary for our worship services. Funds are used to provide the sheet music that our musicians prepare and share with us each week as well as our guest artists who play at our Christmas services. Since we are making our services available online, we also pay an annual fee for licensing. We find liturgists and other helpers each week for the worship service, including pulpit supply when the pastor is away and flower donations for the front of the sanctuary. Your valuable donations also make possible annual needs such as organ maintenance, piano tuning, palms for Palm Sunday, candles and oil for services, and organizing Worship in the Park. We need volunteers each week! If interested, please reach out to Emily Detmer-Goebel if you're interested in helping the committee or Dave Zeng if you want to be involved with the music element of our worship service. The service, which is hosted by the Presbyterian Foundation, will be easily accessed through the church website. You can rest easy knowing that the transaction is safe and secure, and your gift will be available to our ministry immediately, with no waiting periods. Online giving offers benefits both for you and for the church: You can save a trip to the ATM on Sunday morning and avoid forgetting your checkbook or having to quickly fill out your check to make your gift. You can also set up recurring donations to continue giving faithfully even on weeks you are not able to attend services. The church benefits from a more steady and reliable flow of gifts. Work to process checks and cash gifts is reduced when gifts are made online instead. Be on the outlook for training sessions to help you learn to give online. It is quite easy! As we continue to grow the culture of stewardship and generosity in our church, we will include online giving as an important tool.
