Day 6 Port Hedland Mission to Seafarers Port Hedland Seafarers’ Centre Wedge St, Port Hedland Assistant Chaplain Mr Glenn Mercer GIVE THANKS FOR 1 the appointment of Glenn Mercer as the Assistant Chaplain. 2 our Ops Manager John Hague who has served faithfully. 3 the opportunity to talk to Seafarers during transfers and hospital visits. PRAYER POINTS 1 That God will strengthen the Mission with a new Head of Mission/CEO, Operations Manager and dedicated Christian staff and volunteers. 2 That the Seafarers will soon be allowed to come ashore to alleviate the mental stresses they are under. Day 7 Karratha Anglican Community Church, 2 Samson Way Service: 9.00am The Revd Frank & Mrs Joanne Nicol (Lydia, Eli & Silas) GIVE THANKS FOR 1 God who has loved us in his son Jesus Christ. 2 our fellow workers in the West Pilbara and there desire to proclaim Jesus. 3 the answered prayer of the Combe family coming to minister to the seafarers. 4 the rest long service brings after 10 years in the diocese. PRAYER POINTS 1 For Seafarers to be able to come ashore soon, and for ship visiting to recommence. 2 For Steve to settle in well to his new role as Chaplain to seafarers. 3 For our family to settle in well to a new house, church, town, school, and friends. Day 11 North West Live Watch church livestream every Sunday Visit www.anglicandnwa.org/north-west-live The Revd Simon Roberts (Chair) GIVE THANKS FOR 1 God’s people in remote places being able to gather around God’s word. 2 the technology that allows us to provide services and sermons for small churches without resident ministers. PRAYER POINTS 1 For more churches to have the technical infrastructure that allows services to be broadcast, especially at the Cathedral and Dongara parish. 2 For lay leadership in churches where we don’t currently have ministers.
Day 12 Newman St Stephens, Hilditch Ave Service: 9.00am The Revd Roger & Mrs Amanda Kyngdon (Ada, Eliza, Benjamin & Emily) GIVE THANKS FOR 1 some time away from Newman over January. 2 new families arriving in Newman and the opportunity to connect with them. 3 the waterholes around Newman to cool off in. 4 the forgiveness we have through Jesus and the hope that brings. Day 13 Carnarvon St George’s, 10 Francis St Service: 9.00am Minister-In-Charge VACANT GIVE THANKS FOR 1 the faithful service of Jim Williams, Bob Lawer and recent locums. 2 the fellowship and encouragement from the Bible Study group. 3 the unity shown by all the denominations as they worked together in supporting the town through the disappearance of Cleo Smith. PRAYER POINTS 1 For locums being able to come to Carnarvon. 2 To enable the members to be building bridges with non church goers. 3 That the finances can be sorted with the new system. 4 For God to provide a new full time minister. PRAYER POINTS 1 For a locum couple to alternate 2 monthly with Brian and Annie in 2022. 2 For a Christian family to come to Denham and be active in starting a new church generation. 3 For God’s will being done throughout Denham and His church. PRAYER POINTS 1 For a good transition for David and Jenny as they return to NSW. 2 For church members to share the good news of the gospel with friends and neighbours. 3 For members to continue to study God’s word and grow in their faith in Jesus Christ. Day 24 Dongara Training for North West Ministry Program It’s difficult to find people willing and equipped to serve God in the North West amid extreme weather, isolation and transient populations. We’ve set up a new program to train young ministers for the specific challenges of frontline North West ministry. GIVE THANKS FOR 1 the new Minister, Allan Baird, moving from the UK to take up a training position in Dongara. 2 the continuing trainees, Matt Morrison, Brendan Hurley and Mike Welham along with their families as they work in ministry. PRAYER POINTS 1 For the trainees spiritual growth and development of good ministry skills. 2 For the recruitment of more willing to serve here, including from overseas. 3 For Michael Baines and Chris Webb, as they take over training Matt Morrison in Broome. Regional Hospital Day 25 Chaplaincy The Revd Jeremy & Mrs Virginia Rice GIVE THANKS FOR 1 Christ our rock in the midst of the sands of uncertainty. 2 financial support for hospital chaplaincy. 3 efficacy of Covid-19 vaccines. 4 the freedoms Christians are still blessed with in Australia. Greenough Regional Prison Chaplaincy The Revd David & Mrs Alison Hilton GIVE THANKS FOR 1 the continued freedom to share the good news of Jesus Christ. 2 the partnership with Prison Fellowship in delivering ministry programs. 3 the supply resources such as Daily Bread and Every Day With Jesus. 4 those who live out what it means to rejoice in Christ in all circumstances. Overseas Day 29 Link Diocese Karamoja - Uganda Bishop Joseph & Mama Margaret GIVE THANKS FOR 1 ministers working under difficult conditions. 2 the protection of people from the Covid-19 virus that is still a major problem. 3 wise leadership of Bishop Joseph, ably supported by his wife Margaret. 4 persevering Christians across Karamoja and the support of DNWA. PRAYER POINTS 1 Support for those seeking to deal with food shortages and financial stress. 2 For ministers to keep encouraging their congreagtions to grow in their faith; 3 For faithful gospel proclamation to remain a central focus so that more people will know where true hope and joy are to be found. Give thanks to God for Archdeacon Emeritus Bill Ross who recently celebrated 4 score years of life. Ask God to sustain Bill for many more years of faithful service in obedience to the Lord Jesus. Bill and his wife Jocelyn have served in the Diocese for more than 50 years, having begun ministry in Kununurra in 1970. They are still serving God in the Diocesan Office at Geraldton Anglican Cathedral and as visiting minister at Shark Bay and Northampton.
