WHAT IS PFP? The PFP is a competitive one-year through-train programme to polytechnic. It is designed to provide one year of foundational learning to prepare well-performing Sec 4 N(A) students for entry into polytechnic diploma courses. It offers a practice-oriented curriculum taught by polytechnic lecturers to better prepare polytechnic bound Sec 4 N(A) students for entry into the relevant polytechnic diploma courses.
IMPT: PLEASE NOTE The current status PFP-eligibility is the students’ own responsibility of checking her N-Level achievement against the stated PFP criteria. The final PFP–eligible students will be confirmed ONLY upon the release of Jan GCE O-Level results where MOE will issue each student a Form P for PFP application. There may be girls who may ultimately NOT be eligible for PFP and vice versa. All girls are advised to apply for DPP first.

WHAT’S PFP? A diploma-specific foundation programme conducted over two academic semesters Practice-oriented curriculum taught by polytechnic lecturers to better prepare students for entry into the relevant diploma courses Given provisional places in diploma progs, subject to them passing all modules in the one-year PFP Offered by 5 Polys About 1,500 PFP places Spanning 80% of diploma course offerings
WHY CONSIDER PFP? Suited for applied learning in the form of a polytechnic education Identify and select courses based on interests, aptitudes and future career plans Discuss options with teachers, parents and seniors.
ELIGIBILITY Obtain an ELMAB3 aggregate not exceeding 12 points (excl CCA bonus points); and Meet the subject-specific requirements of the courses they are applying for. Eligibility does not guarantee placement in a PFP course. Dependent on vacancies and open competition with other applicants based on merit.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS
STUDENTS WITH ‘O’ LEVEL SUBJS Allowed to combine their ‘N’- and ‘O’-Level examination results to compute their eligibility. If a student takes the same subject at both ‘N’ and ‘O’ Levels, only the better grade will be computed into his or her aggregate.

Accept/reject/appeal offer by 28 Dec. (IIIB) FOR STUDENTS WHO ARE INTERESTED IN BOTH PFP AND DPP, BUT PROGRESS TO SEC 5 FIRST: No need to do anything now in Dec. Report for Sec 5 on 4 Jan. Upon release of O level results in mid Jan 2021, apply for PFP and DPP concurrently. If successful in PFP/DPP and accept offer, withdraw from Sec 5. Last day : 31 Jan 2021 Important : If you do not apply for DPP in the first phase (Dec 2020), the number of vacancies open to you in the second phase (Jan 2021) will be very limited.
Important All S4N(A) students who do not have a confirmed place in the DPP, but are eligible for progression to S5, should report to PL Sec on 4 Jan 2021 (Mon) to continue with S5 (pending application & acceptance of PFP). Students who have accepted a place in the DPP under the 2nd application phase after the release of the O-level results would report to ITE on 11 January 2021 (Thu). Students who are eligible for and intend to apply for the PFP must still report for Sec 5 in Jan, as being eligible for the PFP does not guarantee placement into a PFP course. After the release of PFP application results in late Jan, students who have accepted a place in the PFP must still attend classes until 31 January 2021.
HOW DO I APPLY FOR PFP? Upon release of the GCE O-Level results in Jan 2021, eligible students will receive a copy of ‘Form P’, which includes: i. Students’ computed raw ELMAB3 aggregate scores (excluding CCA points); ii. The list of PFP courses that students are eligible to apply for; and iii. A unique PIN code, which students should use to create their application accounts on the PFP portal at http://www.polytechnic.edu.sg/pfp.
HOW DO I APPLY FOR PFP? Submit an application online via the PFP Portal at https://pfp.polytechnic.edu.sg/PFP/index.html Application window : 2.00 pm on day of release of GCE O- Level results (Day 1) until 4.00 pm on Day 5 as the last day for application. Select up to 5 choices Provide updated contact details in case the polytechnic wishes to contact you
POSTING RESULTS Posting results will be released on the PFP portal 4 days after the close of the application window. Log in to the PFP portal to check your application outcome. You’ll receive a SMS reminder on the morning of the release of the PFP posting results 3 working days to decide whether to a) Accept the offer; b) Reject your offer and continue with Sec 5; or c) Appeal for a change of course through the PFP Portal
POSTING RESULTS Students must indicate their decision to accept / reject / appeal in the PFP portal. An email acknowledgement will be sent once you have successfully selected one of the options above. Failure to indicate their decision in the PFP system by the deadline will result in their PFP offers lapsing, i.e. the student would be deemed to have rejected the PFP offer and will continue with their classes in Sec 5 instead. Hence, students should email the PFP helpdesk (help@pfp.polytechnic.edu.sg) if they do not receive the acknowledgement emails to avoid the possibility of their offers being lapsed.
APPEALS Check your results after the close of the appeals window. a. Students who are successful will have 3 working days to accept or reject their new PFP offer, following which the offer will be voided. They will not be able to reinstate their original PFP offer b. Students who are unsuccessful in their appeal will retain their original offer. They will have 3 working days to accept or reject this offer, following which the offer will be voided. c. Students who are unsuccessful in their appeal and did not have an original offer could receive a posting to a PFP course that they are eligible for. They will have 3 working days to accept or reject this offer, following which the offer will be voided. This arrangement is new for 2020, and is subject to available vacancies and students meeting the subject-specific requirements of the PFP courses.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT? If you accept the offer, you will receive an enrolment package from Polys in Feb/March 2021. PFP will begin in April 2021, together with the rest of the diploma programmes at the polytechnics.
AWARDS & SCHOLARSHIPS Each polytechnic offers scholarships to deserving students entering the PFP. For more information, please refer to the websites of the respective polytechnics. The public healthcare clusters also offer a $500 PFP study award and additional diploma sponsorship to outstanding students who successfully enrol into Nursing PFP courses. https://www.healthcarescholarships.sg/
Though the requirements state it is for outstanding O level grades, there is a mid term scholarship open to current students doing the nursing diploma. So for students on PFP - you can look at it after you have completed your 1st year in Poly

WHAT IS DPP? The DPP prepares Secondary 4 N(A) students for progression into selected polytechnic diploma courses without going through the O-Levels …via a 2-year Higher Nitec programme at the ITE. Under the DPP, students who successfully complete their Higher Nitec course and attain the minimum qualifying Grade Point Average (GPA) are guaranteed a place in a polytechnic diploma course mapped to their Higher Nitec course.

Submit the Letter of Undertaking to the General Office by 12 noon, 21 December 2020
