What is the ActiveCITY Collective? The ActiveCITY Collective is a collaboration of not-for- profit, for-profit and public-sector organizations and individuals engaged in Calgary’s regional active economy. Our objective is to facilitate collaboration, debate, learning and connection to shape system wide solutions. Our ultimate goal is transforming Calgary into Canada’s most livable region by maximizing the potential of our natural competitive advantage – our active economy.
The ActiveCITY Vision The ActiveCITY Collective will transform Calgary by unlocking the value of our regional active economy.
It’s Time to Develop our Playbook 2030 Delivering on the ActiveCITY vision won’t happen without a gameplan. We call this the ActiveCITY Playbook. The Playbook will focus the resources from across the non-profit, for-profit and public sector of the regional active economy on a common plan. To be successful, it must be everyone’s Playbook. So the ActiveCITY Collective has set a goal of engaging 65,000 Calgarians in developing our community’s ActiveCITY Playbook 2030.
Thinking Local. Thinking Big. The goal of Playbook 2030 is to establish a globally leading vision for Calgary’s activity economy. To deliver this, the planning framework includes four-levels of community and expert engagement Steering Interdisciplinary working group mandated to coordinate development of Playbook and submit to Committee ActiveCITY Board for approval. Engaged to provide regular and ongoing counsel in Champions specific areas of expertise. Engaged to conduct a formal review of draft Playbook Advisors in October 2020. Citizens of Calgary who chose to actively engage in Community the Playbook development between May 2019 and November 2020.

Developing our ActiveCITY Playbook 2030 The development of the ActiveCITY Playbook 2030 is based on three phases anchored in ongoing community engagement. • Establish ActiveCITY Phase 2 • Engage community and governance share Playbook report • Initiate community for discussion engagement to define • Establish governance • Host virtual Summit preliminary ActiveCITY process 2020 Pillars. • Refine and finalize • Conduct global • Host Summit 2019. benchmarking research Playbook. • Stakeholder engagement on key Phase 1 questions. Phase 3 March – December January – September October – December 2019 2020 2020
Developing our ActiveCITY Playbook 2030 The key dates for developing the Playbook 2030 are: 1. June – October 1. Stakeholder engagement and development of draft Playbook 2030. 2. October 1-16. Advisory committee review of draft Playbook 2030. 3. October 17-November 6. Revisions of Playbook 2030. 4. November 6. Release of Playbook 2030. 5. November 20. Host ActiveCITY Summit 2020. 6. December. Finalize Playbook 2030.
Building the Playbook Case Existing Calgary Plans The Playbook will be anchored and aligned to existing Calgary civic plans. We will audit Canada and global plans to extract best Canada Global practice. The Playbook 2030 Pillars Our regional active economy… 1. Is Inclusive: All Calgarians must have an opportunity to engage and access the regional active economy, enabling all Calgarians to live active healthy lives. 2. Is Skilled: The regional active economy will be unlocked by a skilled, innovative and agile labour force. 3. Is a Magnet: The regional active economy will be a magnet for attracting and retaining high-impact talent across all sectors. 4. Is Sustainable: The regional active economy must be sustainable and protected for future generations. 5. Is Proud: Calgarians will identify and value living in North America’s most robust active economy. 6. Is Integrated: The regional active economy must be anchored in an integrated, actionable and shared vision.
