COMMUNITY PROGRAMS FALL 2021 PAGE 2 SPECIAL EFFECTS MAKEUP PROGRAM Explore and learn through special effects makeup and tools used in the prestigious world of the film industry. Through demonstration and hands on instruction, students will have the chance to create realistic quality special effects injuries such as: Broken nose/bruising; 1st, 2nd and 3rd degree burns; deep cuts; severed finger; broken glass through hand injury; zombie bites and ripped off finger nail. *No class on October 22 due to Pro D Day Grades Time Dates # of Sessions Price Rm. Fridays 6—8 3:15—5:15 Oct. 15 — Dec. 3 8 $130 MPR P.L.A.Y. Learn the basics of theatre including acting, vocal presentation, and character work. You will learn valuable skills such as teamwork, public speaking, communication, and self expression in an inclusive and creative environment. COMMUNITY PROGRAMS FALL 2021 PAGE 3 ART Drawing and painting helps develop life skills and encourages self-expression and creativity. This class is a fun way to learn and develop different art techniques and be introduced to mediums like acrylic paint, watercolor, drawing, ink and mixed media. *No class on November 11 Day Grade Time Dates # of Sessions Price Rm. Students will learn creative problem solving and computational thinking through the game design process while employing the tools and technology that power top games. Each class is rooted in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) topic and includes time to create, play and analyze games. *Students will be sent a link to connect to an online platform. Students will learn the differences between fly fishing and other forms of fishing, how to cast a fly rod, how to tie their own flies, fish identification, as well as where and when to fish for certain species. COMMUNITY PROGRAMS FALL 2021 PAGE 4 This Mpowerment program will help you find your 'Inner Rockstar' through basic singing, dancing and acting. Learn how to use your voice with great posture and proper breathing to build self-esteem and confidence. Fun games, mindfulness activities and movement will support social and emotional learning and self-regulation strategies. Come prepared to stand out and sing out your "Inner RockStar"! Day Grades Time Dates # of Sessions Price Room Tuesdays 6—8 3:00— 4:00 PM Oct. 12—Nov. 30 8 $85 MPR This Mpowerment program aims to benefit your child emotionally, mentally, and physically through jujitsu martial arts. The student will learn practical self-defense skills through technical drills, workouts, and games. These skills will focus on both grappling and striking techniques. Throughout the class, students will follow respectful etiquette such as bowing, meditating, and active listening to show respect to the instructor, their peers, and the classroom. COMMUNITY PROGRAMS FALL 2021 PAGE 5 After school chefs in training will enable students to recognize and use tools and appliances in the kitchen, read recipes and create tasty after school snacks. Students will be setting the table to enjoy their creations with fellow students, cleaning up their space and bringing printed recipes home. Recipes will include quesadillas, grilled cheese, pizza buns, milkshakes, chicken soup, cookies and cupcakes. Often referred to as “The Art of Motion” through parkour we can teach kids to express their creativity rough movement, while staying active and healthy learning how to fall, vault, jump, roll, swing, and kids will become more confident in their bodies and learn how to make the world their playground. We teach kids to work through progressions by starting small and building up to bigger and harder skills. COMMUNITY PROGRAMS FALL 2021 PAGE 6 Registration Our Community School After School Programs Registration is online and will accept payment using Visa, Mastercard or interact/Debit (eCheck). You will get instant confirmation of your spots in the programs you choose. An email address is required in order to get your confirmation # and print out your receipt of payment. To access the registration website please visit the Pitt River Community School Website then click on the “Community Programs” button on the homepage. To Register 1. Click on https://sd43.schoolcashonline.com/ 2. Create your account. 3. Enter first and last name; click continue. 4. Enter fields: address, phone number, email address then click continue. 5. Choose a password and security question. 6. Make sure to OPT IN to receiving email notifications for updated school information. If you do not wish to register online there is still an option to register by filling out the paper registration forms. They are located at the Pitt River Community School main office. *REFUND POLICY: Refunds will only be available, for any reason, within the registration period. Refunds will be pro-rated and subject to a $5.00 administration fee for cancellation after the start of programs. No refunds will be given on the day of the second class or later.
