The Wine Bluffs by Hey Boss A comedy wine masterclass with Damian Callinan & Paul Calleja Ever wondered what wine goes best with fairy bread? Why hasn’t the ‘Champagne Spider’ caught on? These questions and many more will be inadequately answered by the self-styled sommeliers of comedy, Damian Callinan and Paul Calleja. After intoxicating sold out audiences across the country, The Wine Bluffs are here to do what they do best: bullsh*t about wine. Laying spurious claim to a reputation as renowned wine consultants, the duo, fresh from judging the Fruit Wine Section at The Rockhampton Show, will take you through the cellar door experience with a comedic twist. The union of Callinan [Melbourne Fringe Comedy winner & three time Barry Award Nominee] and Calleja [stand up and writer on Before the Game & countless other TV shows] has everyone’s palate salivating as they prepare to uncork their latest vintage and let the comedy breathe. 10

Hallowed Ground - Women Doctors in War by The Shift Theatre Four Women. Many Stories. A Century of Service Follow the personal journeys of four women, Lilian, Mary, Tam and Catherine, united in their determination to utilise their skills in the field of medicine on active service within the military. From the pioneers of World War One, first denied military service, throughout the battles of World War Two - through contemporary conflicts, and as peacekeepers in times of humanitarian crisis; these and other stories come to life in vivid accounts of revelation, loss, struggle and kinship. Together they share moments of hope and humour that punctuate the otherwise harrowing task of conflict medicine. Written and researched over two years by Carolyn Bock and Helen Hopkins, The Shift Theatre brings together a fine ensemble cast and creative team under the direction of Catherine Hill. 12

Mission Songs Project by Jessie Lloyd Music Songs from back home Presented by Jessie Lloyd, Mission Songs Project is performed as a quartet with a range of Indigenous performers from around Australia. Profoundly moving, Mission Songs Project reveals what daily life was like for Indigenous Australians on Christian missions and state-run settlements. Searching for the family songs that were sung around the kitchen table, Jessie Lloyd explores the day to day life on the missions, settlements and reserves through music. From cultural identity to love and loss, these rare songs consist of almost forgotten stories that can now shed light into the history of our Indigenous elders, families and communities. Mission Songs Project faithfully explores the musical journey of Indigenous Australian music as the Mission Songs Quartet connects the traditional with contemporary, revealing the continuation of cultural practice and song traditions into the 21st Century. 14

FoRT by Asking for Trouble Spectacular acrobatics and poetic visual imagery, celebrating imagination and adventure Have you ever built a... FoRT? A show for cubby creators and den dwellers. Asking for Trouble presents FoRT, a circus/physical theatre production, which delves into the art of play and the creation of worlds from everyday objects. Two strange characters appear hunting for whispers of adventure. In a series of vignettes, a couch, table, cushions, sheets and broomsticks transform into rockets, trampolines, cliffs and tents, places to explore. Images appear and disappear. FoRT is full of ridiculous clowning, spectacular acrobatics, and poetic visual imagery and celebrates the kind of creative genius that has been known to turn lounge rooms into volcanoes, trees into castles and cardboard boxes into racing cars. 20

This is Eden by Emily Goddard Sit back, relax and be transported... 1839. Cascades Female Factory, Hobart Town. In a solitary cell, on the edge of survival, a ‘sleek little savage’ waits alone in the darkness. Left for dead, ten thousand miles from home, she plots escape and reveals, with biting mockery, the untold tales of her captors. In a Green Room Award nominated performance described as ‘fearless’ and ‘nauseatingly exquisite’, Emily Goddard and acclaimed theatre director Susie Dee bring to life a dark, humorous and provocative ‘anti-bonnet drama’ inspired by the rebellion and resistance of the female convicts of Van Diemen’s Land. Using the French clowning technique of bouffon, where outcasts ridicule and provoke those in power, Goddard and Dee tread a fine line between the grotesque and charming to uncover an extraordinary chapter of rebellion and survival that has seemingly escaped our nation’s history lesson. Harrowing and hilarious, This is Eden is at once an examination of our dark past, a parody of the way we perceive it and a vital call to arms. 26
