PA R I S H G O O D N E W S May 2021 EIGHTH GRADE CONFIRMATION RETREAT O n April 28th, our eighth graders gathered at St. Adalbert’s Church with inspirational groups of high school students and adult volunteers to build relationships and explore the power of the Holy Spirit in their lives. We would like to thank the following adults and high school students who went out of their way to make the day extra special and who helped prepare our eighth grade students for the next phase of their lives. Larry Lavelle, Nick Giandinoto, Mike Seidlek, Mike Steil, Chas Ortman, Angie Connelly, Jenny Peters, Laura Sparks, Alicia Battershell, Erin Briggs, Mary Jandrain, Irene Urzendowski, Emma Peters, Allie Moline, Clare Jandrain, Natalie Gonzalez, Parker Lakin, Joe Connelly, Simon Baber, Tanner Post, Jonah Koesters, Sarah Glover, Daniel Ossowski, & Deacon Frank Hilt. Thank you also to Cindy Jandrain and Jason Fett for the wonderful photos! DEACON FRANK HILT 35th ORDINATION ANNIVERSARY O n Monday, April 26th, Deacon Frank Hilt celebrated his 35th Ordination Anniversary as a Deacon for the Archdiocese of Omaha. Deacon Hilt has served the Parish of Our Lady of Lourdes-Saint Adalbert during his entire 35 years of service, along with being an Adorer of the Blessed Sacrament and volunteering at the Stephen Center. He has for many years also conducted a Communion Service for the residents of the Omaha Nursing Home and has been one of the many team leaders for the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults program, which helps those who are interested in learning and becoming part of the Catholic Faith. Thank you Deacon Hilt for your faithful service as Deacon to our parish family and for all of your service to our community! MAY CROWNING D uring the month of May we celebrate and honor Mary, our Mother, by crowning her Queen of the Rosary, Queen of the Church, and Queen of our lives. Each year a May Queen is chosen from the eighth grade class, and a second grader is selected to carry the crown. These students were chosen because their everyday actions and choices are qualities similar to Mary’s, and because, like Mary, the choices they make each day are reflections of their love for the Lord and their desire to please Him. Congratulations to this year’s May Queen, Elizabeth Buescher, and to Aggie Brannen who was the Crown Bearer. Page 2
