WRSS Bursaries In 2016, to commemorate 65 years of education and nation-building, the RSS School Management Committee (SMC) has set up 3 bursaries: 1)The World Red Swastika Society Bursary 2) Goh Keng Swee Foundation Bursary 3) Choong Yeok Yin Bursary to provide financial assistance to students from low-income families.
WRSS Bursaries By setting up the bursaries, it hopes to • touch the lives of RSS students, and • instil in them greater awareness of the values of charity and compassion. Look out for the application form in Term 4 this year for Bursaries 2019

Communication At RSS, parents are welcome to keep the communication channel active. We communicate with parents via: • Student Handbook (most encouraged) • School Website • Emails • Phone calls • Smart Notification Acknowledgement Console (SNAC) • Letters to parents • RSS Link (Newsletters) • Parents’ Conferences • Parents-Teacher Meeting
• First point of contact – Form Teachers through emails / phone calls / messages / meetings • School-related matters – School is still the best point of contact • Be familiar with school expectations spelt in the student handbooks / school website • Keep posted of school matters and updates through our website or SNAC or letters / circulars sent out
Home support • Set reasonable goals and routines with your child • Focus on developing your child’s strengths • Emphasise the learning process instead of exam results • Avoid comparing your child’s performance with that of others • Praise your child for his/her efforts • Pay attention to your child’s needs and fears • Make time for fun and play
Parent Support Group (PSG) Parents will have opportunities to work with school personnel on programmes and projects that will benefit their child and the school. Family Matters@ School Participate in the parenting workshops and family bonding activities to enhance the quality of family life.

School-based Dyslexia Remediation (SDR) Aim: To enable students who have been diagnosed with Dyslexia to become strategic decoders and spellers, flexible in the independent use of different strategies. • Monday to Friday, except Wednesday • 2.00 pm to 2.45 pm (45 min)
Reading Remediation Programme (RRP) Aim: To build the reading competency of students reading and raise their confidence by using word recognition, spelling strategies and able to answer questions about what is read. • Every Monday and Friday • Time: 2 pm – 2.45 pm (45 min)

RSS Meal Break Food Items Food to be consumed: Museli bar, dry cereal without milk, fresh/ dried fruit, buns, bread, biscuits, muffins, nuts, plain water No ice-cream, chocolate, sweet, chips, sweet drinks Should still be in line with healthy meal programme No sharing of food as students may still have allergy * All meals come with a piece of fruit (recess & lunch) which students are strongly encouraged to eat

CIS Leadership Framework
At RSS, through a whole-school structured approach, we hope to: • develop the 9 character traits as encompassed in the “Three Littles” as student leaders • build SE competencies in students through VIA (Values In Action) platforms
• Every student is developed to be a leader since P1 (Classroom leaders). • There are different leadership roles in a class. Students serve as a leader in their various capacities in the class.

What can I do to support my child in his/her development? • Good discipline is the basis for engaged learning • Encourage your child to read in both EL and CL • Monitor your child’s progress • Reinforce the importance of time management and checking of work upon completion • Ensure homework is completed on time • Update the form teacher immediately on matters relating to your child’s well-being
