Oscar de la Renta bridal salon in London. ****A GUEST POST WRITTEN BY ZOUCH AND LAMARE WEDDING PLANNERS**** Sometimes you meet someone who is so on your wavelength, who shares so many similar values to you, that 3 Apr you just know you are going to get on and will work together Filed under Commercial, Fashion, brilliantly. news, Wedding. Bookmark the permalink. I felt that as soon as I met the very lovely Liesl Lamare, one half of the wedding planning duo Zouch and Lamare, based in London. Over coffee in London we discussed all things wedding and it was quickly clear we share a love of fashion, of exquisite bridal style and for encouraging brides to be true to themselves in the choices they make. I’m very pleased to say I will be working with Zouch and Lamare in the coming months, hopefully on some spectacular weddings, and I look forward to our relationship growing. I’m also looking forward to one or two exciting projects we are already planning together.
NOW, the lucky girls were invited to a rather spectacular bridal event in London just a few days ago. The launch of the Oscar de la Renta bridal salon in London. I asked the girls to write up a little account of the event for my brides. Both Mimi and Liesl have their fingers on the pulse of the latest wedding trends and styles, so they are the perfect hosts to guide you through this wonderful bridal event. Armed with their trusty phones they grabbed some shots, and along with some of the official ones taken by Jeremy Enness, here is the girls exclusive report from the event, just for you. It’s a blog take over ! Enjoy. Here are the girls:
Liesl and Mimi write….. “Into our inbox popped a very special invitation for the opening of Oscar de la Renta’s beautiful and exclusive bridal salon in London. Without a micro-second of hesitation, we RSVP’d the inspirational host, Mark Niemierko, and began counting down to the launch party. We even embellished our nails with de la Renta’s gorgeous new nail lacquer, Larimar, to mark the occasion. Earlier this year, Oscar de la Renta opened a giant 3,000 square-foot flagship store at 130 Mount Street in Mayfair. Spread over three floors this boutique will function as a flagship for his luxurious designs including ready-to-wear and bridal lines, home décor, accessories, beauty products and childrenswear. Finally de la Renta’s masterpieces are available to browse and buy in the UK and the launch of the bridal salon was a much anticipated event.
On the evening of the 21st March, the doors opened to the press, the wedding industry and brides-to-be with a keen eye for fashion. Our first impressions as we walked up to the building, which is nestled between other great names in high fashion, were that of refinement. Venturing into de la Renta’s world, we couldn’t help but feel elegant. Handsome waiters greeted us with flutes of champagne and we headed inside and up the white spiral staircase into the salon to mingle with other invitees and scan the surroundings. The interior was as intriguing as it was stylish.
Coral stone from Mr. de la Renta’s native Dominican Republic was set off by high- gloss anigré panelling. Meyer Davis Studio, a New York based firm were behind the impeccable decor and it was perfectly set off by Rob van Helden’s white floral creations. He chose clouds of white Columbian hydrangeas which were gathered at various levels and reflected in the heavy-framed mirrors. The voluminous bouquets gave the room a freshness and charm. Clean, white petals were also used as a delicate embellishment throughout the store, adorning the boutique with ceremonial finesse. As we looked over the exquisite bridal gowns on display, we felt utterly indulged. The magnificent dresses were out of this world! Beads, lace, silk and in the most romantic, fairy-tale silhouettes. The creations are the dream gowns for any bride’s special day. The shoes, clutches and jewels make it all the more exciting. And if that wasn’t enough, there were the most adorable outfits for the little ones. Flower girls,
and young bridesmaids can feel as pretty as a princess in a choice of sparkling white dresses, or in pastel shades of gentle pink or soft, Larimar blue.
Oscar de la Renta’s first bridal fragrance, Something Blue, was the theme of the evening. Launched this month, the bottle echoes a white silk and blue organza gown from this season’s wedding collection. The top is carved from a rare blue Larimar stone from the Dominican Republic and the main flower, a stephanotis is one the designer plucked from his own garden as inspiration. “Not only is it beautiful”, he says, “but it has a beautiful scent”. And we can confirm it smells incredible – fresh, feminine and romantic – perfect to compliment such stunning dresses. For de la Renta, the intimacy of fragrance is crucial to identity and with hints of mandarin, linden blossom, sultry vanilla and white musk it exudes luxury. Oscar de la Renta loves the traditional aspects of weddings and many women, who were struggling with their “something blue”, found just what they needed, whether it was statement jewellery, subtle blue shoes or the perfume itself.
As we leafed through his designs, a string quartet played out delicate repertoires, until Kelli-Leigh appeared to serenade us into the evening. Donning one of Oscar de la Renta’s finest ready-to-wear dresses in white and gold, the talented singer looked absolutely gorgeous. The evening was quickly in full swing and as we caught up with familiar and new faces in the wedding industry, we found it hard to refuse the delicious canapés. Mustard Catering served their delightful treats on perspex boxes filled with white flowers. As the evening unfolded we were led downstairs to towers of Ladurée macarons complimenting the pastel shades of the childrenswear next to a dessert table with pick’n’mix sweeties and a glittery photobooth, where we created souvenirs to cherish long after the event.
The launch of Oscar de la Renta’s first Bridal Salon was an absolute success. The dresses were divine and the accessories hard to resist. We were thrilled to end the evening with the perfect goodie bags containing the gorgeous Something Blue fragrance. Not only had he captured our imagination but he had also given us a wonderful slice of his own. This bridal salon is a must-visit for all brides-to-be!
