Open Living Lab Days 2018 Living Labs (LLs) are defined as user-centred, open innovation ecosystems based on a systematic user co-creation approach. It integrates research and innovation processes in real life communities. LLs are both practice-driven organisations as well as real-life environments. LLs operate as intermediaries among citizens, research organisations, companies and cities for joint value co-creation, rapid prototyping or validation to scale up innovation. Living Labs are spread everywhere around Europe and rallied to the same association: the European Network of Living Lab (ENoLL). Open Living Lab Days is the annual summit of the worldwide Living Lab community. The annual 4 days event includes interactive sessions, workshops, lively discussion panels with excursions and off-site visits with the aim of giving the participants a wider insight about models, theories and technologies related to Living Labs. Participants have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience from the leading experts on the subject and to network with other Living Lab. Since 2010, The Open Living Lab Days have been held in different country: Krakow (2017), Montreal (2016), Istanbul (2015), Amsterdam (2014), Manchester (2013), Helsinki (2012), Barcelona (2011) and Paris (2010). The 9th edition of the Open Living Lab Days will take place from Wednesday 22nd August to Friday 24th August in Geneva. This year, the main theme is "Living Labs & Sustainable Development Goals : from theories to practice” f Page 1 of 8
Organizers 1) European Network of Living Lab (ENoLL) ENoLL is the international federation of benchmarked Living Labs in Europe and worldwide. Founded in November 2006, it counts today over 150 active Living Labs members worldwide. ENoLL provides co-creation, user engagement, test and experimentation facilities targeting innovation. The ENoLL international non-profit association, as the legal representative entity of the network, is headquartered in Brussels, at the heart of Europe. 2) Genève Lab Genève Lab was officially launched October 2016 and assigned the main mission to support the State of Geneva's administration through its digital transformation. To accomplish its mission, Genève Lab operates on a participative approach inspired by living lab methodologies. As a Living Lab dedicated to public sector initiatives, Genève Lab is in direct contact with more than 40 public administration offices of the State of Geneva and affiliated para-public organizations such as the hospitals, the utilities, the public transport authority, the airport, as well as the public administrations of 45 municipalities of the canton of Geneva, including the City of Geneva. f Page 3 of 8
3) The HES-SO of Switzerland with Energy Living Lab The HES-SO is a leading hub of skills and innovation, preparing students for the world of work, and contributing both to economic and social development and to the creation of jobs. Energy Living Lab is a pilot project of the HES-SO, brought together public institutions, businesses and users to imagine and co-develop new viable energy solutions. This ecosystem was set up in 2013 in Chablais, the first living lab in French- speaking Switzerland in energy. Its purpose is to enlarge its scope of actions in order to integrate a greater number of actors in French-speaking Switzerland. 4) University of Geneva (UNIGE) and its CUI - mQoL Living Lab The University of Geneva is dedicated to thinking, teaching, dialogue and research. With 16’500 students of more than 150 different nationalities, it is Switzerland’s second largest university. It offers more than 500 programmes and 300 continuing education programmes covering an extremely wide variety of fields: exact sciences, medicine, social sciences, law, etc. CUI - mQoL Living Lab is a large-scale, participatory sensing lab for research on mobile communications and computing models, algorithms and frameworks conducted by the Quality of Life group members at the Institute of Services Science, Center for Informatics of University of Geneva. f Page 4 of 8
