3rd Grade is a Difficult Grade for Student Transition Tips for Transition •Independence is essential in 3rd grade. •Addition & Subtraction facts should be memorized. •Multiplication facts to 12 should be memorized. •Responsibility for students’ property and actions are key. •Reading daily at their level
Classwork Policy • Students will be responsible for turning in the all “Must Dos” assignments on the week’s playlist (graded). • "May Dos" and "Enrichment" activities are additional assignments to support academic skills (not graded). • A pattern of not completing assignments on time will result in a reduced study skills grade on their report card.
Attendance Information • Student log in at 7:55am. • Students should have breakfast before starting online learning. • Attendance will be taken daily. • If a student is absent, please call the school and advise the office of the absence in order to excuse the absence. Please note that you only have 48 hours after the absences in order to excuse it.
FSA Testing Information • FSA Testing (Reading and Math) *Subject to change* • 3rd Grade FSA Administration o ELA Session 1 & 2: tba o Math Session 1 & 2: tba As per the Florida Statute -3rd Grade is a retention year. If a student’s reading deficiency is not remedied by the end of third grade, as demonstrated by scoring at level 2 on the FSA in reading for grade 3 the student must be retained.
Grading Policy In 3rd grade students begin to receive letter grades for academics 90-100 A 80-89 B 70-79 C 60-69 D 50-59 F
Technology at Home • Microsoft Teams, Canvas, iReady, Education Galaxy, Nearpod, etc. • Links to Team meetings will be provided to students on teacher’s Canvas course. • Username and password for Education Galaxy will be provided to students. • Canvas, Nearpod, and iReady can be found on Clever.
How YOU Can Help • Attendance & Punctuality • Your child should read for 30 minutes daily, making sure to ask questions to ensure comprehension. • To encourage long lasting academic success, please allow your child to work independently during the school day. • Assignments (review)
