SEPTEMBER 2021 NZTC STUDIES REKINDLE STUDENT’S PASSION FOR TEACHING Achieving a teaching qualification in New Zealand has enabled He Jiang to bring new enthusiasm, skills and knowledge to her role as an educator. After identifying a yearning to rekindle her passion for education, Chinese graduate He Jiang knew enrolling in the Graduate Diploma in Teaching (ECE) with New Zealand Tertiary College (NZTC) would provide her with a fresh perspective on teaching. “I had been working in an early childhood centre in China for five years, and was starting to feel as though I was stuck just following the same daily routines. “I decided that I could benefit from some further learning and new inspiration, so I chose to move to New Zealand and learn more about their progressive ECE curriculum.” He says that her confidence and expertise as an educator has grown hugely since engaging in both theoretical and practical learning throughout her NZTC studies. “I absolutely cherished the chance to work in various centres which were all unique in their own ways. For onshore international students, this includes the New Zealand Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (Level 5), the New Zealand Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (Level 6), the Bachelor of Teaching (ECE), the Bachelor of Education (ECE) and the Graduate Diploma in Teaching (ECE). Enspirement (Inspiring + Environment = Enspirement) is a new virtual community that has been created by experienced ECE professionals, with a vision to help transform the early childhood education experience by supporting and guiding teachers to create meaningful environmental designs. The digital platform shares content, inspiring images, ideas, research, trends and best practices. It is a place for educators to go to share, connect with others and learn in a virtual professional development space.
