ATTENDANCE Aligned to Remote Learning Expectation 4 Students are expected to attend and participate in each of their classes every day. Teachers will take daily at- tendance in ASPEN based on student participation in synchronous learning. To be marked present, students must sign into and participate in the synchronous learning portions of daily lessons. If a student is unable to attend classes due to illness or another of the acceptable reasons for an excused absence covered by CPS policy, an absence note must be emailed to ncpattendance@cps.edu and should include the student’s name, advisory, and reason for the absence. ACCESS TO CONTENT Aligned to Remote Learning Expectation 4 Though attendance is required, absent students will still be supported in accessing missed content and learn- ing. Synchronous portions of daily instruction will be made available to students via Google Classroom, and students will be able to submit assignments for normal grading. INSTRUCTIONAL TOOLS Aligned to Remote Learning Expectation 1 All remote learning will be facilitated through the Google Education Suite. However, many of our educators are utilizing additional ed-tech tools to maximize student engagement during remote learning. A sample of these tools includes the following: Pear Deck* Nearpod* Screencastify* Desmos Pivot Interactions* Gizmos* *indicates that we have purchased a school license 6
COMMUNICATION Aligned to Remote Learning Expectation 6 To ensure successful learning at home, we are committed to regular communication with students and fam- ilies. All teacher to student communication will be conducted through G-Suite (email, GChat, Google Class- room Announcements, etc.). Teachers will provide a Weekly Summary for each class. This is available to both parents and students through Google Classroom and will include learning goals for the week, assess- ments, and resources. To improve general communication with families, we are transitioning to the use of SchoolCNXT, an app that allows for streamlined communication with all of our NCP families. ASSESSMENT & GRADING Aligned to Remote Learning Expectation 3 & 6 Standard letter grades will be issued based on mastery of content. Grades will be updated in Aspen regularly. Grading categories for each course are outlined in the course syllabi provided by every teacher. 7
