•   By mail: Return registration form located on the last page with your payment to the NHAC Office
•   In person or by phone (412-364-3622) during office hours, Monday thru Friday 10:00am-3:00pm
•   NO MAKEUP SESSIONS ARE GIVEN FOR MISSED CLASSES
•   Classes without adequate registration will be cancelled and students will be notified. Full refunds will
    be given for cancelled classes. Please allow at least 2 weeks for processing of refunds.
    Memberships are non-refundable.
•   If a student drops a course, it is their responsibility to contact the North Hills Art Center.
•   No refunds are given after the first class. Refunds for classes and workshops given if
    cancelled one week prior.
•   Compensation for missed classes is not available.

A-39 Drawing Fundamentals
Ages 16-Adult, Registration deadline: March 31
Being able to draw what you "see" is the foundation for other art experiences. This
class will work on building up your drawing skills through observational exercises
that will improve your realistic drawings. This class is for all levels of ability
especially those who say they can't draw! All materials included.

This class explores a new way of creating landscapes by using various weaving techniques. Students begin
by drilling and warping a picture frame, then learn ways of weaving and working with fiber to create unique
pictures. Please bring: 8x10 or 10x12 wooden picture frame-1”-2” wide (see sample; remove glass),
drill, 1/8” drill bit, assorted yarns.

A-15 The Art of Hand Lettering
Ages 14-Adult, Registration deadline: April 29
This class will cover the entire lettering process from pencil sketch to inked drawing to digital* finish. We'll start
with the basics of drawing individual letterforms and work up to creating your own beautiful hand lettered
illustrations, building on lessons covered each week. Chock full of tips and tools
for creating concept-driven pieces, there will be demonstrations and one-on-one
instructor critiques, as well as hands-on time to work in class. Perfect for
beginners wanting to learn the basics, as well as intermediate students looking
to dive deeper into incorporating hand lettering in their professional work.
*Digital processes will be taught, but not required to create work in this class. If
desired, students should have access to a scanner/scanning app on their
phone/tablet, & Photoshop, Illustrator or Procreate. Please bring materials to
work in class each week: drawing paper, graph paper, pencils, fine and
broad tip markers/ Sharpies, tracing paper & ruler.

A-84 Let’s Knit! Spring Triangle Shawl
Ages Adult; ages 12-17 with registered Adult , Registration deadline: April 15

This lacy triangle shawl knits up fast and can be adjusted to be as wide or as narrow
as you’d like. The open lace pattern gives just enough coverage when a full sweater
just isn’t necessary-and who doesn’t love a hand knit gift! Learn knitting basics:
casting on, knit stitch, purl stitch, yarn over, knit two together, binding off and how to
read a pattern. You’ll be able to knit this up in no time to give as a gift-or keep it for
yourself! This piece in an ivory or white shimmer yarn would make a lovely bridal
shower gift! Materials list: size 11 knitting needles, yarn: #4 worsted/aran (at
least 220 yards), crochet hook large enough for yarn (to attach fringe,

                                                 Health and Safety Plan

In accordance with the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the North
Hills Art Center has established the following plan for all classes, camps and workshops for Coronavirus mitigation:
ALL ACTIVITIES:
     Cloth face coverings will be worn by all staff, instructors, students (including children) and guests entering the Art Center.
    Social distancing will be practiced during all activities.
    Temperature scans will be taken upon arrival. Anyone who scans above 100.4 will be refused admittance.
    Surface sanitizing/cleaning will be done on an accelerated schedule.
    Hand sanitizer will be available and handwashing will be encouraged.
    CDC guidelines are used to implement these health and safety measures.
    Anyone who exhibits signs of illness or has been exposed to someone exhibiting signs of illness should not attend Art
        Center activities.
    Signs will be posted throughout the building to remind visitors and students to follow these protective measures.

CLASSES/WORKSHOPS:
    Classes will be limited to 8 students in order to practice social distancing.

POTTERY CLASSES:
    Pottery studio classes will be limited to 6 students.
    Participants will sit at every other wheel, unless they are immediate family members.
    Personal tools are recommended. Class tools will be available and cleaned after each class.

CAMP GUIDELINES:
   Camps will be limited to 8 children per camp. Camp groups will not mix and they will retain the same instructor for the
      duration of the session.
   Double camp attendees will bring their own lunch & eat outside, weather permitting. Individual bottled water will be
      available.
   Campers will be dropped off and picked up in a designated area of the parking lot. The upstairs sitting area is closed.
      There is no waiting inside the building.
   Campers will be issued personal art supplies to be used during the week. Supplies will be sanitized between sessions.
   Campers are required to wear clothes that can get messy or bring their own smock.

IN CASE OF PROBABLE/CONFIRMED ILLNESS:
    Staff and students will be notified immediately of exposure due to a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19 and asked
         to follow CDC guidelines for exposure.
    Areas and objects used by an infected person will be cleaned and disinfected before allowing further use.

 The North Hills Art Center (NHAC) has successfully provided art and arts enrichment to our community for
 58 years. We have not done this alone. It has been made possible by countless volunteer hours. Help us
 keep this great local asset going. Volunteer. Every hour counts!

                           Ways you can be involved at the NHAC:
  Event Assistance - decorating, set up, planning, and participating to insure the smooth operation of events
  Artisan Markets - assist with drop off, pick up, set up, inventory and/or break down
  Gallery/Traveling Art Shows - assist with drop off, pick up, hanging of artwork; clean up or set up of receptions
  Garden - cleanup & planting (spring & fall), general maintenance and weeding
  Maintenance - General help around the center: painting, handiwork, etc.
  Office Coverage - assist with vacations and/or lend an extra hand
  Outreach - assist with our outreach programs
  Fundraising - brainstorming, planning, and implementation of new ideas
                 (mail in the form above with your registration/membership form or drop off at the office!)
