Do you have a young, budding artist at home who loves to draw, color and create to their heart’s content? Why not give them an “Art Experience” at the Cultural Arts Centre’s summer art camps? Let your kids unleash their creativity (and energy!) at one of three types of weeklong art camps including Themed Drawing/Painting Camps, Clay Camps or Fencing Camp. Each camp is one week, you can sign up your child for as many weeks as you’d like! These camps will also feature “plein air” or “open air” painting outside, demonstrations by featured artists and a special art camp exhibit every Friday. CLAY CAMPS Ages 8-12 • 4 weeks $153 St. Peters Resident/Rec-Plex Member $184 General Public Dates: June 7-11, June 14-18, June 21-25 & June 28-July 2 If your child loves working with clay and sculpting art, this is the camp for them! Campers will each have their own brick of air-dry firing clay to use each week and will also get to use the pottery wheel once a week. Bisque clay has a process. It has to dry before being fired in the kiln. This is not possible the same week as your child’s camp. Please refer to the following schedule: 2021 Clay Project Firing, Pickup and Painting Schedule: June 24: Weeks 1 & 2 clay projects to be fired July 13, 14 & 17: Clay projects from Weeks 1 & 2 can be picked up and painted (painting optional) July 15: Weeks 3 & 4 clay projects to be fired July 27, 28 & 31: Clay projects from Weeks 3 & 4 can be picked up and painted (painting optional) Aug. 9: Last pick-up day for all clay projects! FENCING CAMP Ages 10-16 • 1 week • June 28-July 2 $129 St. Peters Resident/Rec-Plex Member • $155 General Public Your child will learn the basics of the art of fencing, including the en garde position, stance, defense, attacks and courtesy. This is a combined class for both beginners and experienced. Campers should wear comfortable pants (sweat pants or running pants). All equipment is provided by the instructor. ST. PETERS REC-PLEX 2021 SUMMER CAMPS St. Peters Rec-Plex offers both recreational Activities Camps, plus a variety of Sports Camps throughout the summer. Both camps provide safe, enjoyable opportunities for kids to meet new friends, play games, go on field trips, and enjoy plenty of Rec-Plex activities such as swimming, diving, ice skating and more. Campers will enjoy both the St. Peters Rec-Plex and beautiful City Centre Park. All Rec-Plex camp fees include a T-shirt and weekly field trip. The camp is staffed with qualified personnel who develop and coordinate activities/games and supervise the camps. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: • Camp hours: 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. •L ocation: All Rec-Plex summer camps are held at St. Peters Rec-Plex South. SPECIALTY SPORTS CAMPS • Ages 7-12 • $252 GENERAL PUBLIC • $210 RESIDENT/REC-PLEX MEMBER Rink Rats Summer Hockey Camp, Ages 7-12 Rink Rats will keep cool and gain extra ice time each day during this camp. We’ll develop agility, balance, speed and teamwork, plus have fun playing different mini-games and drills! Campers must have basic hockey experience and full equipment is required to participate. Dates: 6/1-6/4, 6/7-6/11, 6/21-6/25, 6/28-7/2, 7/6-7/9 Beginners Ice Skating Camp Ages 7-12 Stay cool and learn to ice skate with lessons, on ice games and free skating, crafts, and fun off ice activities each day. You will also learn and practice a skating routine to perform at the end of the week. No experience required, we provide the skates and all the fun. Camp is for the brand new skater through the Pre-Alpha level. Dates: 6/1-6/4, 6/14-6/18 Learn to Skate Ice Skating Camp Ages 7-12 Skaters get extra ice time each day to continue to develop skating skills they have been learning in group and private lessons. Plus an introduction to choreography, artistic skating, ice dancing, and synchronized skating. Camp is for the Alpha – Delta level Skaters only. Skaters must have passed the Pre Alpha level. Each camp is one week, you can sign up your child for as many weeks as you’d like! Baseball Camp, Ages 7-12 Oil your gloves and join us for fun on the diamond. Camper will enjoy America’s pastime as they hit, field, throw and scrimmage against each other. Dates: 6/14-6/18, 7/19-7/23, 8/9-8/13 Basketball Camp, Ages 7-12 Here’s a slam dunk for summer fun: If your child loves basketball, this camp will build skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, and defensive/offensive positioning. Dates: 6/1-6/4*, 6/28-7/2, 7/12-7/16 Cheer Camp, Ages 7-12 Let’s hear you cheer! Campers will learn the fundamentals of cheering, short spirit routines, and basic cheerleading moves. (No tumbling or stunting.) Dates: 6/14-6/18, 7/6-7/9*, 7/26-7/30 Dance Camp, Ages 7-12 Learn some fun dance moves and feel the music! Dates: 6/21-6/25, 8/9-8/13 Dodgeball Camp, Ages 7-12 Your favorite P.E. game is now a camp! Learn how to duck, dive, dip, chuck and DODGE a ball. You will play a variety of games that will lead to a dodgeball tournament. (We use soft gator balls.) Dates: 6/7-6/11, 7/19-7/23 Flag Football Camp, Ages 7-12 Campers, are you ready for some football? Your child will work on passing, receiving, defensive/offensive plays, and get an overall understanding of flag football. Dates: 6/28-7/02, 7/26-7/30 Soccer Camp, Ages 7-12 Have fun playing recreational soccer and learn new skills! We emphasize teamwork & good sportsmanship. Dates: 6/7-6/11, 7/6-7/9*, 8/2-8/6 Volleyball Camp, Ages 7-12 Bump, set, spike and have fun! Your child will learn the fundamentals of volleyball on our indoor courts. DROP-OFF & PICK-UP INFORMATION ALL summer campers (both Rec-Plex and Art Experience campers) must be signed in and out every day by a parent, guardian or someone listed on the Authorized Pick-Up Form on page 17. All campers must be picked up at either the Rec-Plex or Cultural Arts Centre by 3:45 p.m. at the latest unless they are enrolled in an after care. When picking up campers, the parent, guardian or authorized person must present a photo ID. Non-prescription medicine that is to be administered by the camp staff must be sent to camp in the original container with the following information affixed to the container: name of child, dosage, schedule of administration, and a written note from a parent/guardian explaining the process of administering the medicines. St. Peters Summer Camp 2021: Rec-Plex & Arts LATE PICK-UP FEE/REFUND POLICY AGREEMENT & SPECIAL REQUESTS FORM LATE PICK-UP FEE POLICY: Any child being picked up after their designated pick-up time will be required to pay an additional fee. Children registered for camp only must be picked up by 3:45 p.m. Children registered for After Care must be picked up by 6 p.m. LATE PICK-UP FEE PROCESS: • When the person picking up the child arrives late, he/she must check-in with the Camp Leader on duty in the gym, to sign and receive a late fee form. • The form must then be taken to the Rec-Plex Front Desk. • You will receive a receipt. • The child will not be able to participate in any future camp activities until the late fee has been paid. Summer Camp COVID-19 Information The Rec-Plex has developed a plan for COVID-19 based on best practices and recommendations from the St. Charles County Public Health Department, the CDC, and the American Camp Association. What are we doing? • Smaller group sizes • All camp staff will wear masks when inside (and outside when social distancing is not possible) • Campers are strongly encouraged to wear masks • Outdoor activities will be encouraged (weather permitting) • Rotating lunch schedule (chairs will be socially distanced) • Increased hand washing for staff and campers • Camp staff will carry hand sanitizer and disinfectant • Cleaning of shared equipment and supplies will be increased • Contactless games will be encouraged • Modified drop off/pick up process • Drinking fountains will not be available (campers should bring water bottles) Please do not come to camp if you are experiencing any of the following symptoms within the last 24 hours: • Fever (temperature greater than 100.4 F.) • New or worsening cough *Fencing Camp available for ages 10-16. • Shortness of breath or trouble breathing • Sore throat, different than your seasonal allergies • New loss of smell and/or taste • Diarrhea or vomiting • Close contact as defined by the CDC with someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past 2 weeks. If campers experience any of the above COVID-19 symptoms or have a fever they shall be sent home immediately. The child shall not be allowed back until they are symptom-free for at least 24 hours with no use of medication. INHERENT RISK An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, senior citizens and members with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable. By visiting the St. Peters Rec Plex, you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19. CANCELLATION BY CITY The City reserves the right to cancel, reschedule, or set limitations on programs based on COVID-19 guidelines from governing bodies, federal, state, or local mandates and/or executive orders.
