Thanks to you, we’re continuing our journey at the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine, TX with a bang! With over 300 performances currently registered this will be the largest NDA All-Star Nationals in our history. NDA sincerely thanks you for being such a loyal partner! This is the final information packet you will receive before your arrival in Grapevine for the championship. Please read all of the information carefully. This will help ensure that all participants and coaches are well informed as to all aspects of the event. Bring the information in this packet and a copy of the NDA All-Star and Individual & Small Group rule books so that you can review any necessary procedures such as performance requirements and criteria, penalty assessments, etc. Most of the questions you may have can be answered in this information. Please review all included materials carefully to ensure that you and your team are fully prepared to experience the fun, excitement, and winning spirit of an NDA Championship! CHAMPIONSHIP LOCATION Gaylord Texan Resort 1501 Gaylord Trail Grapevine, TX 76051 EVENT CHECK-IN A representative from each team must check-in at NDA Event Registration on January 16 in the Escondido Room – registration will be from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, and 7:30 AM until 9:00 PM on Friday. Please refer to the overview map located at the end of this packet. You MUST turn in the USASF Roster in order to compete and have your music compliance information available. Coaches will need to count and sign for all team credentials at check-in. Each coach attending the event must also check in at the registration table with valid government issued ID to receive their coach credential. These credentials will allow you access into the Championship venue. NDA will not replace lost/stolen credentials. TICKETS Tickets will be GENERAL ADMISSION. NDA will offer daily passes or a weekend pass which will be good for Friday – Sunday competition. Please inform all spectators that tickets may be purchased with CASH ONLY at the door. Checks and credit cards will not be accepted. NDA will begin selling during registrations on Thursday afternoon and Friday, and continue through the rest of the weekend. Spectators may pre-purchase tickets with a credit card through our web sales link which will be sent out closer to the competition. OFFICIAL CHAMPIONSHIP CREDENTIALS Each registered participant and coach will receive official Championship credentials. The credentials will be picked up during check-in. These credentials MUST be worn to gain entrance into the Championship Venues and practice areas. REGISTRATION CHANGES All changes that don’t affect division splits must be submitted in writing and received by the NDA Registrations Director (Leslie Dyer – ldyer@varsity.com) – NDA is not responsible for written changes not received. DIVISION CHANGES NO DIVISION CHANGES are allowed at this point. FULL PAYMENT Payment in full must be completed prior to practicing or competing at the NDA All-Star National Championship. If your gym has an outstanding balance, payment can be in the form of Credit Card, Cashier’s Check or Money Order. No personal checks, booster club or business checks are accepted. REQUIRED FORMS Listed below are the required forms that must be completed in full and turned in upon check-in at the event. Your team will not be allowed practice time or to compete if these forms are not completed in full. You can also download these forms on our website: nda.varsity.com. Your team will not be allowed to practice or perform until all forms are completed in full. USASF Event Roster - In lieu of the Team Eligibility Roster that was previously required by NDA, all dance participants must now be registered in the USASF system and linked to a team attending the event. VARSITY TV – LIVE STREAM The competition will be live streamed on Varsity TV. Visit Varsity TV - NDA ASN for coverage beginning the afternoon of Friday, January 17. PERFORMANCE ORDER Tentative performance times can be downloaded on our website at nda.varsity.com on Monday, January 6. This performance order will be continuously updated as changes occur. All coaches will receive the most updated performance order upon check-in on Friday, January 17 and the final performance order will be available on our website on January 17th. PERFORMANCE AREA The performance floor consist of 10 strips of Marley (each strip is approximately 4’11” wide x 39’ long) and will be on a 56’ deep by 60’ wide stage. FAN VIEWING NDA will have a fan viewing area located in front of the stage. A cue line will begin to the house right side of the stage and spectators will exit house left. Please remind your parents to follow staff instructions and to move quickly in and out of the area. Fan viewing will be floor seating this year. The stage will be 29” high similar to other year end events PRACTICE AREA Each team will have approximately six (6) minutes of practice time on three stations (stretch, turning strip & full Marley floor). Your practice time will be approximately 1 hour before your performance time. The practice area is located in the High Plains and Mesilla Rooms located downstairs from the Tate Ballroom (refer to map). From the practice area, you will be directed to an “On Deck” area. If you miss your practice time, NDA cannot guarantee another opportunity to practice in the designated area. Only team members of the competing team and Coaches may enter the practice area. NDA will provide sound systems for teams with music on an MP3 player/digital format. For the soloist competition, open floor space will be available in the Texoma Rooms starting at 11:30 AM, however, you’ll need to bring your own sound system. Music cannot be on CD this year. USASF WARM UP ROOM REQUIREMENTS To enter the warm-up room at a USASF Sanctioned event, the requirements are as follows: Coach 1. Career membership fee has been paid for the current membership term. 2. Green Light Background Check Status issued by the National Council of Safety Initiatives 3. Listed on the roster as a coach for the team entering the warm-up room. Other Gym Staff or Volunteer 1. Green Light Background Check Status issued by the National Council of Safety Initiatives 2. Listed on the Personnel Roster (for non-coaching staff) For more information, please visit USASF.net. SECURITY All participants, coaches, and spectators are not allowed to bring the following into the Championship venue. Please inform your spectators to refrain from bringing any unnecessary bags, cases, etc. The following items are prohibited by the championship venue: food or beverage, weapons, alcohol, tripods, cameras with telephoto lenses, pets, posters/signage, noisemakers/air horns, coolers/flasks, laser pointers, umbrellas, skateboards, roller skates, bikes and scooters. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. Because we take the safety and security of our participants seriously, our policy is to protect your privacy and that of all participants. Video cameras and still cameras WILL BE allowed during performances. However, cameras with telephoto lens will not be allowed. If you see any individual taking questionable video or photos, please alert an NDA official. NDA reserves the right to remove any individual.
SCORE SHEETS Score sheets from your preliminary competition will be available approximately 15 minutes after your team has performed and may be picked up at the score sheet table located in NDA Information Table in the Tate Ballroom Pre-Function lobby. Finals score sheets will be distributed at the NDA Information Table following conclusion of your division’s awards ceremony. NDA assumes no responsibility for the score sheets after the Championship has ended. Sample score sheets are located at nda.varsity.com. Your Day 1 score will count as 25% of your final score. Your Day 2 score will account for the other 75%. Teams will compete in reverse order, from how they placed in prelims. (i.e. the squads with the highest score after prelims in a particular division will compete last in that division on finals). AWARDS Trophies will be presented to all teams in every division. In addition, the following awards will be presented: • National Championship Awards* – jackets will be awarded to team members and up to two (2) registered coaches/directors who win their division. Those winning multiple categories will receive ONE jacket. National Champion teams will also receive a banner. • Grand National Champion Banner – will be presented to the team having the highest total of two (2) category scores during finals. • Junior Grand National Champion – will be presented to the Junior and below level team having the highest total of two (2) category scores during finals. • Best in Category Award – will be presented to the team in each category with the highest total final score. • Specialty Awards (Innovative Choreography, Superior Showmanship, Technical Excellence and NDA Unleashed Routine) - – may be presented to a team in each category. Performers winning in more than one division category will only receive one jacket. The awards ceremonies will take place continuously throughout the day. *Prep and DanceAbilities National Champions will be awarded a Champion Hoodie instead of jacket. Prep, Exhibition and DanceAbilities ceremonies will take place on Saturday. SOLOIST & DUET/TRIO AWARDS All soloist & duet/trios will receive a ribbon. In most divisions, the top ten soloist & duet/trios will receive a medal. Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be awarded to the top three in each division. The gold medal winning soloist and duet/trios in each division will have the opportunity to perform during Day 1 of the Team competition. RANKINGS Rankings for all competitions will be posted on varsity.com/20NDA as each division is completed as well as in the Tate Ballroom pre-function area. DANCE WORLDS AND DANCE SUMMIT BID DECLARATIONS NDA will be awarding Dance World and Dance Summit bids at the 2019 NDA All-Star National Championship. Reminder: All teams competing for a Bid to the Dance Worlds must have their USASF Gym Membership and Athlete ID program up to date PRIOR to attending Nationals.
COACHES ORIENTATION MEETING NDA will administer one Coaches meeting on Friday, January 17th at 10:30 AM in the Tate Ballroom. While attendance is not required, we urge that you have a representative at the meeting. The meeting will consist of a quick overview of the weekend and you will be allowed to ask any questions you may have about the Championship. TEAM ENTRANCES Due to the number of teams competing, we ask that all teams enter the floor in a timely fashion. Once your team name is called, please do not do any additional chants or team cheers. Penalties may be assessed should your team have a time-intensive, organized entrance. Staying on time will be crucial to the event. Thank you in advance for relaying this information to your teams. DO NOT LEAVE PERSONAL ITEMS UNATTENDED Please do not leave personal items unattended at any time during the event. If your gym is assigned a personal meeting room, please be sure to leave a parent or individual in the room should you choose to leave items in that location. Please do not leave your bags backstage prior to your performance. NDA recommends dancers leave their bags with team parents prior to reporting to the practice room. NDA will have security during the event; however, these individuals are not responsible for watching personal items. Please pass along this information to all parents and spectators. VIDEO REPLAY – “LIVE” VERBAL – Team Competition Only Following each Day 1 routine, teams will be able to watch their routines and receive a “live” verbal critique from one of our veteran judges. The coach will be allowed to record the verbal critique on a personal device for personal and team use. No recordings of the verbal critique will be provided by NDA.

Practice Floor Location Practice area for dance teams is located in the Texoma, Mesilla and High Plains Room. Once practice is completed, your team will be escorted to the Tate Ballroom - On Deck area. There will be open warmup space for the soloist competition on Friday in the Texoma Room which will be available at 11:30 AM. Video and Photography Parents may use their personal cameras and video cameras in the venue. However, use of professional recording equipment is still prohibited. Professional video cameras and telephoto camera lenses are still not allowed. Registration Location Registration for the event will take place on Thursday, January 16 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and Friday, January 17 beginning at 9:00 AM in the Escondido Room. Music Teams and individuals must play their music directly from a digital player. NDA does not allow CDs this year. Changing Areas Davis 1-4 will be available for team changing areas. We’ll also have some quick change tents available backstage. Coaches Orientation Meeting NDA will administer one Coaches meeting on Friday, January 17th in the Tate Ballroom at 10:30 AM. The meeting will consist of an overview of the weekend, and you will be allowed to ask any questions you may have about the Championship. We’ll offer a walk thru of all of the venue space immediately following the meeting. Hotel Parking NDA attendees receive a 25% discount off of self-parking at the Gaylord Texan Resort. Discount parking tickets can be picked up in the Tate Prefunction Area. There is not in and out privilege for guest not staying at the Gaylord.
