                   WILDFIRE UPDATE
Lytton Complex FIRE SIZE: FIRE STATUS:

Lytton Creek (K71086) 44,426 hectares (estimate) Out of Control

RESOURCES:
There are 93 personnel, 31 pieces of heavy equipment, six helicopters, an Incident Management Team and Structure
Protection personnel.

UPDATE:
Following successful controlled ignitions there has been no additional fire growth on the east side of the Thompson River in the
area surrounding Spence’s Bridge. There was increased fire activity on the west side of the Thompson River and Highway 1
yesterday, however no structures are immediately threatened.
Fire activity continues to be heightened on the southeast flank of
the fire, where fire progression is primarily to the south. This
section of the fire is in steep terrain which is inoperable for
ground crews. Heavy equipment and ground crews continue
work to establish control lines which will be used for hand
ignitions under the direction of an ignition specialist.
Structural protection equipment has been deployed in
communities along the Nicola River from Shackan Indian Band to
Spences Bridge.
Increased fire activity on the west side of the Botanie Valley
yesterday afternoon resulted in significant smoke. Progression of
the fire in this area is primarily to the north and continues to
burn at high elevations. A machine guard has been constructed Smoke from the Lytton Creek wildfire (K71086) July 28, 2021
on the east side of the west ridge, and helicopters continue to
support with bucketing operations. Ground crews and heavy equipment continue work to establish control line near Sleetlis
Creek, on the east side of the Botanie Valley. The control line will be used for aerial and hand ignitions in the coming days, un-
der the direction of an ignitions specialist.
There is potential for growth on many parts of the fire, dependent upon weather, topography and available forest fuels.
