“A Camporee Program Operating Under the Darkness of Night”
Mission: IMPossible - SPRING 2021 CAMPOREE - Scouting Event
SUMMARY OF THE PROGRAM
The “Mission IMPossible” Camporee program is different than anything we
have done before.

The main programming begins Saturday Evening at 6:45 pm at the campfire
ring. During the camporee, CIT will be swarming with “secret agents” doing
their best to accomplish several fun but challenging “Night OPS Missions.”

Scout Patrols will be given secret orders that will direct them to their
first night mission. Additional clues will be provided following each event.
Patrols will be scored on proper rotation between the events.
 All Agents will report to Headquarters for the Jaws of Death
      Cracker Barrell by 11:30pm.
 A total of 6 missions will be completed under the cover of darkness.
 The missions will conclude at 11:15pm and all Agents should be in
their campsites and quiet by 12:30 am - SPL’s must report back to the
camp staff once their full headcount is complete

                         WHY A NIGHT CAMPOREE?
There are several awesome reasons to have a nighttime camporee!
   1) It's a fun and exciting departure from the “standard” camporee and
campout format. This is especially important to our “veteran” Scouts
that have participated in other Camporees and would enjoy something
      new and different.
   2) To Scouts who have busy weekend schedules of sports or other
activities, it gives them the luxury of participating in those events and
still complete a full experience at the Camporee. They do not have to
choose between Scouting and other pursuits.
   3) It avoids the rush of Friday night. Units can arrive either Friday night
      or Saturday morning.
          a. Units arriving on Friday night understand that the majority of
the program will be offered Saturday afternoon. Units can
provide their own program or participate in planned events
before the start of the Camporee.
          b. Please be respectful of the IOLS/BALOO training being
             conducted Saturday during the day.
   4) Under the cover of darkness, the environment takes on a mystery,
which creates a more exciting mood. Even Scouts that are very familiar
with CIT will find the camp different at night.

REGISTRATION
Registrations may be made online at https://scoutingevent.com/620-MohawkCamporee2021

Each Troop indicate to the camporee chair if they are arriving on Friday night or Saturday morning.
If you need to arrive on Friday night later than 8:30pm, please notify the Staff in advance.

CAMP RULES
Follow the Guide to Safe Scouting and Scouting Spirit (Law and Oath).

Field uniform (Class A) is worn at all group activities (while traveling to/from camp, Campfire, Sunday
service). Wearing a field uniform is always appropriate. Units may designate Activity Uniform (Class B)
during station rotations and at other times.

MEALS

All Troop are responsible for bringing their meals. There are NO district-provided meals. A Cracker
Barrell event is being planned for Saturday night however may need to be modified to comply with
COVID requirements.

ADDITIONAL COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS

All attendees will be required to complete a pre-event screening checklist, and units will be expected to
complete daily wellness checks of all members at their campsite. Units should have a plan in place to
increase and enhance the cleaning and sanitation of common touch areas at their campsite.

Troops and will be assigned to a circle. This group of Scouts/Adults will participate in all programs
without commingling with other circles.

Remember that face coverings are one of the CDC recommended ways to protect yourself and flatten the
curve; we know that face coverings can be uncomfortable at times, but your safety and the safety of all
our Scouts is essential!
 Face coverings will be worn at all times indoors unless in the dining hall while eating
 Face coverings will be worn at all times in open-air outdoor circumstances when social distancing
        cannot be accomplished
All program areas will be sanitized after every group rotation.

Scouts will not share tents. Families may tent together.

LEADERSHIP

Two-deep leadership per BSA policy is required for any Scouting activity. The Buddy System is also
strongly enforced at camp. SPL’s and Patrol Leaders should designate “buddy teams” at camp. Scout
leaders should make sure their Scouts are drinking enough water to stay hydrated and should plan on
sending adult buddy pairs with each Patrol, not as participants but as a safety check as these events are in
the dark.

“A Camporee Program Operating Under the Darkness of Night”
LEADERS’ MEETING

Scoutmasters and Senior Patrol Leaders will meet in the Dining Hall after lunch on Saturday at 1:30pm.
The Saturday night activities will be reviewed, and any questions will be answered.

ARRIVAL

setting up their campsites.

Units will be welcomed at Clayton Rice Pavilion and directed to the parking lot. Bring a roster with
contact names and the number Scouts/Adults that will be onsite.

FIRST AID, MEDICAL FORMS, MEDICINE, AND YPT

Units are responsible for handling their medical forms, medicine, and first aid. Any injuries
beyond the capability of the unit should be referred to camp staff. All injuries should be reported
to the camp staff. Current medical forms (Parts A&B) and Youth Protection Training (YPT) are
required for all attendees.

UTILITIES

Potable water is available at campsites. Most campsites do NOT have electricity. Please contact

Ring. The Patrol will be issued an Event Card indicating the location
of each event. All members of a Patrol must stay together at all
times.

“A Camporee Program Operating Under the Darkness of Night”
YOUR MISSION SHOULD YOU CHOOSE TO ACCEPT IT….

DAYTIME EVENTS (SATURDAY)
  1. Open Sports and Field Games: loose basketballs, footballs, volleyballs for free time sports.
  2. Troop may choose to perform their own programs until dinner time.
  3. Open MB Programing. There is no charge for these merit badges and offerings are subject to
     change.
        a. Fingerprinting Merit Badge
        b. Movie Making
        c. Signs, Signals, Codes

NIGHT OPS MISSIONS (SATURDAY)
  1. MYSTERY SCOUTMASTER MISSION – Sorry, this is a complete mystery. No one knows what
the mission is, not even the president! It will remain a mystery until moments before you begin,
matters of National security you know. It is big! It is vitally important! Be prepared for
     anything!

  2. LASER GAUNTLET: (COVID Modified) Patrols must advance upon the enemy sentry and
neutralize him. The enemy Sentry (staff member) is blindfolded and stands ready with a flashlight
(laser) ready for action. The Patrol must approach the sentry quietly, no running allowed. If the
patrol members make a noise or are spotlighted by the “laser”, the Scout is “dead” and must sit
down. If one of the Scouts can tag the Sentry, then the Patrol wins. If the Sentry spotlights all of
the Patrol members, then the Patrol is out. This is a timed event.

  3. ENEMY ENCAMPMENT: You must evaluate the strength of the enemy encampment and make a
map of the location. You must not be seen or heard in your attempt. The more accurate
information that you list, the higher score you can obtain. How many enemy soldiers are there?
How many tents? Are there any vehicles? What is the license plate numbers of the vehicles? Do
you split your Patrol into smaller teams to gather more information? If any member of your Patrol
is spotted by an enemy guard, your entire Patrol loses. If your Patrol can capture an enemy guard
(by silently approaching and tapping him/her on the shoulder) for interrogation, bonus points will
     be awarded.

  4. STEALTH HIKE: The Patrol must traverse a route from Point X-Ray to Point Zebra without
being seen or heard. Enemy agents are patrolling the pathway. You must use a compass and
orienteering skills to complete the course. The Patrol must be very quiet and use no flashlights.
You must be stealthy or else. This is a timed event.

  5. FRIEND OR FOE? There is an enemy agent known as “The Jackal” and a friendly agent known
as “The Condor”. The Patrol will meet both agents over the course of the event. You must decide
which agent is “The Condor” and present their computer disk to him/her. You have no
information about the appearance of “The Jackal” or “The Condor”. It is known that “The Jackal”
is operating in the area and may try to impersonate “The Condor”. The Patrol must determine
who is who by asking the agents questions and judging their character by the responses. You
must get computer disk to “The Condor”. The only clue we can give you is that “The Condor”
was a member of the Boy Scouts of America. He/She will know about proper BSA skills,

“A Camporee Program Operating Under the Darkness of Night”
knowledge, and trivia. “The Jackal” was not a Scout so his/her answers may not be proper. If
“The Jackal” fools you and receives the disk, your Patrol's mission is lost.

    6. BLIND ESCAPE: An explosive device has temporarily blinded all the patrol members but the
Patrol Leader. The Patrol Leader can see but is paralyzed and cannot move. The Patrol Leader
must guide fellow Patrol members by voice through a dangerous series of obstacles to rescue
them and escape to safety. Teamwork and cooperation are your only hope for survival. The Patrol
Leader will be tested on how clearly, they can give instructions and how well they can coach the
Patrol through the situation. The Patrol will be tested on how well they follow instructions. This
        is a timed event.

    7. RESCUE THE PILOT: Patrol members must rescue a reconnaissance pilot who has been shot
down behind enemy lines. The pilot must be safely brought to home base. The pilot is hiding but
does have a radio that you can use to communicate with them. Your Patrol must rescue the pilot.
The pilot will guide you to their location via the radio but you must stay as quiet as possible.
Enemy forces have radio interception devices and are homing in on the pilots location. The pilot
was been injured while ejecting from the plane. You must determine the extent of the injuries,
administer the proper first aid techniques, build a stretcher with materials found near-by, and
evacuate the pilot to safety. Be warned! Enemy soldiers are searching as well, do not get caught
or you lose! This is a timed event

    8. JAWS OF DEATH – You will exercise your jaws on a buffet of cheese, crackers, cookies,
veggies, cold cut sandwiches, soup, lemonade, and hot beverages. This is a light snack served
COVID style scheduled at the end of the night for everyone to enjoy. It serves a few purposes.
First it refuels young bodies. It serves as a check point for the staff. Is everyone accounted for?
        Are there any injuries?
.
                                            EVENT SCORING
Each Patrol will be timed or scored for each activity participated in. Based on the individual event's
scoring rules:
10 POINTS: Top scoring Patrol 6 POINTS: Third scoring Patrol
8 POINTS: Second scoring Patrol 4 POINTS: all other Patrols

In case of a tie for First, Second, or Third places; the recorded times will be the tie-breaker.
The top three scoring Patrols will receive a trophy. Bonus point opportunities will be available throughout
the event. You'll learn more at the Camporee!
