Middle Years – Term 2 Week 5 2021 Kia Ora Golflands Campus Middle Years Whānau ‘E Ofoofogia ‘Oe Lo’u Matai’. The students enjoyed a much-anticipated Pacific Island shared lunch celebration. The most requested food was sapasui and coconut buns! A very special thank you to the parents who bought, cooked, or dropped off any dishes for the shared lunch! We appreciate the part you all play in this. Ezra Paese in his ie lavalava, and Joycinda Pakipaki, Elena-Rhys Uta’i, Nathania Mamea, and Moana Tanuvasa in their beautiful puletasi dresses. They shared with all of our Y7-10s about what their family’s value in Samoan culture: relationship with God, respect and manners, milestone celebrations like 21st with a key gifted to them, and of course THE FOOD! Thank you to Miss Gibson our Year 8 Whānua leader who is also leading and influencing our Pacifica group as part of her role in the Kāhui Ako. How impacting has the weather been! Wow, from striking sunrises to alarming deluges, our God sure has designed complex, vexing and powerfully beautiful weather systems. One of my favorite saying is this: “a gloomy day has no power over a sunny disposition”. Thank you to the parents who pray for our teachers and students and who regularly send through words of wisdom and encouragement. We value and appreciate our faith-based partnership with you. Figure 2 Psalm 150 declares that “we praise God according to His excellent greatness.”
The World Vision student leaders from Primary and Middle Years attended a challenging leadership training conference where they were inspired to commit to encouraging their peers to support the 40- Hour Famine. Thank you, Rishona Lal, Isabella Neumann, Kei McNeill, Kayla Goh and Caitlyn Chong for your commitment and advocacy for the plight of others. The winning house for term 1 was Ezekiel. They were treated to a much appreciate cup of hot chocolate on a chilly morning. Every term all students get allocated house points for demonstrating good character, working hard, and getting deeply involved in their learning. The house points are tallied, and the winning house across all four year-level groups is announced at the end of every term. Each term a different award is given so next term’s treat for the winning house might be totally different. Nothing gives teachers more pleasure than acknowledging students who act outside of what they have to do and choose to do want they want to do for the good of others. The late Dale Carnegie, an award-winning writer said, ‘Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage.” When the Junior Years teachers, Mrs Lee and Miss Coffer needed technical support for the Elim’s Got Talent Evening, Tobyn and Sion immediately decided to volunteer their Figure 7 Sion and Tobyn services.
