In school, children will use Reading Plus at least three times per week and
as a result, they will be exposed to a vast range of texts across a vast range
                                  of genres.

Whilst they will have regular reading sessions in school, children will also
benefit further by sharing and discussing texts at home. To support your
child, you should encourage them to access Reading Plus at home and
read at least three times per week. Listening to your child read can boost
confidence and allow them to discuss what they have read, which will aid
                      when comprehending the text.

                  sentence structures and literary devices.

                           Spelling at Home
In school, your children will focus on spelling rules and applying this
                          within their writing.
At home, children would benefit from regular practise of Y6 common
exception words, which can be found in their Reading Diary.
Maths
Children will continue developing their knowledge of number, statistics,
geometry and measure. They will solve problems, reason and
investigate how they can apply their knowledge to a variety of contexts
including topic-based activities and everyday life.

               Maths at Home
In order to support your child with their
learning, it would be helpful if you could:
• Ask them multiplication table questions
(just one table a night) e.g. focus on the
8x table on Monday and as questions
       such as 8 x 3 and 24 divided by 8
  • Discuss the time during the day using
        both digital and analogue clocks
• Involve them when cooking, asking them
to weigh ingredients and discussing the
                measurements
Reading Diaries should be in school every day.

Please try to listen to your child at least three time per week and
                 discuss themes, events and characters.
Please sign your child’s reading diary.
