May/June 2019 ulletin In a few weeks we will be opening our long awaited outdoor pool. It is a celebration we have been looking forward to for many years. We are extremely proud and excited to be rolling out this awesome new amenity very soon. As we prepare for our finishing details, we want to thank you for being so patient with our construction process. It has been loud and messy at times and I know parking has been difficult. Your support for this project has been amazing and I hope that once you experience it, the trouble has been worth it. I would like to send out a huge thank you to our contractor The Bruce Company and their many excellent subcontr actor s. They have kept the project on time, on budget and have done so with minimal impact to our operations. Our architect, Dennis Kirkpatrick and pool designer , All Star Pools have made the permitting and various details and hurdles look effortless. Our neighbors, especially Meadowmeer Golf, have made extra parking and logistics much easier due to their support and cooperation. Finally, and most importantly, our amazing staff has worked tirelessly to integrate this pool into our operations in a seamless way. They have thought of nearly every detail, worked long hours and tackled any challenges with humor and a positive attitude. There is no way this pool would happen without the hard work of our staff and specifically those that put up with me day in and day out. For me, this pool is a dream come true. Many friends and advisors counseled me on both sides of the decision to take on this project. I heard the pros and cons and considered and researched them all carefully. So, when the plans, budget and permit came together, it was time for a gut check. Then literally, in the same week that we needed to decide “go or no go,” my Dad passed away suddenly. My solid rock for advice for 50+ years was no longer a phone call away. My Dad loved water and swimming, but never liked risk so I am not sure what he would have advised if I had one more chance to ask. I hope he is looking down now with pride. He and my Mom taught me that family fun and activity is a lifestyle. So, to honor my Dad, I want this pool to be a place where all ages gather, play and make memories. I hope you can join us June 8th to celebrate the opening. My mom will be here to cut the ribbon. But, we will need to wait a few seconds in silence while my Dad takes the first lap. See you at the pool! Shelly Please Join Us... ainbridge Athletic Club - (206) 842-5661 1 May/June 2019
