CLASS REGISTRATION TABLE OF INFORMATION CONTENTS How to Register Online: Visit www.cityofeastlansing.com, click on “Parks, Recreation and Arts” and then click on “Class 3 Community Events Registration.” East Lansing Art Festival, Call: (517) 333-2580 ext. 0 and have class Farmers Market and Crystal Awards information ready. There is plenty of free parking! 5 Youth Art/Fitness Class Cancellation Process: ELPRA reserves the right to 6 Youth & Teen/Adult Dance cancel any class or program due to low enrollment and will provide a refund. Participants will have the option to enroll in another class if space is available. An effort will be made 7 Sports Camps to schedule a make-up class if a class is canceled due to inclement weather or causes beyond our control. If that is 8 Pickleball not possible, no partial refund will be provided. Withdrawal/Credit Procedure: To withdraw from a class or 9 Adult Art/Fitness program, call (517) 333-2580 ext. 0. Requests must be made 48 hours prior to the first class in order to receive a 10 Pool Schedule refund. All withdrawals are subject to a $5 processing fee. A 50% credit will be given if requested prior to the second class. No cash or credit card refunds will be issued. The household credits will be held on account for one year and may be used by any member of your household for any EL- PRA classes or services. ELPRA may modify this procedure and exclude classes or programs at any time. Accessibility: ELPRA classes, programs and facilities are open to all persons without regard to race, creed, national origin, gender, age, or physical or mental ability. In com- pliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, ELPRA will make reasonable accommodation to support participants with varying abilities. Requests for accommodation can be made when registering or by calling (517) 333-2580 ext. 0 at least seven days prior to the start of the class or program. Inclement Weather: Decisions to cancel a class or program because of inclement weather are made on a case-by-case basis. PRODUCTION DESIGN* (Ages 11-18) The purpose of the performance camps is to put together July 12-22 • 114501-G21 a small performance for the last day of camp. During the week of camp, the participants will determine how they STRANGER THINGS (Ages 12-18) want to tell their story; this may involve using an existing July 19-23 • 114501-H21 script, or writing a new one of their own. Each performance will feature simplistic props, sets, and costumes that are AUGUST CAMPS needed to tell the story effectively. YOUTH YOUTH FITNESS CAMPS Little Ninjas Karate (Ages 4-5) The Little Ninjas Karate Program is an introductory karate class specifically designed for children ages 4-5. It focuses on teaching children eight important main life skills— focus, memory, teamwork, discipline, self-control, fitness, balance, and coordination. This is achieved through exciting and fun game and activities! ARCHER TROJAN SOCCER CAMP Participants at all levels will enjoy a challenging and rewarding experience that will help them gain an understanding of teamwork and sportsmanship; learn the game of soccer; and develop age-appropriate skills—in a safe, positive, nurturing environment. All of the camps are held at the East Lansing Soccer Complex. Week 1: M-Th 7/26-7/29 Camp fee: $65 per child for ONE session. Both games are simple yet fun, exciting, and involve running, agility, acceleration, deceleration, object control and other important fundamental movement skills. Both Ultimate and Trashcan Lacrosse are excellent donor sports that can help kids learn basic tactical skills needed for other invasion sports like basketball, soccer, hockey, and lacrosse. Requirements: Knowledge of general water safety as well as the ability to swim in a group environment. Skills Learned: Combining arm and leg movements to gain buoyancy, increasing breath control and increased water safety skills. YOUTH & ADULT ADULT AQUATICS Master Swimming (18+) AQUATICS Fitness and competitive swimming for adults 18 years of age and older. Coached practice for adults of all ability levels. Competition within age and gender groups for all who desire. Masks may be removed once entering the water, but not beforehand. No class 7/5. Res: $49 Non-Res: $54 Requirements: Students are familiar with all strokes and are able to swim long distances. Swimmers must also require no assistance in the pool. Private and Semi-private Swim Lessons Skills Learned: Swimming the length of a pool, Looking for a more personalized swim lesson experience? V Requirements: Swimmers must be able to swim for longer periods of time while being able to focus on endurance. VI Requirements: Swimmers must have slight mastery of each stroke (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly) and full ability to fix technique without risk. Proficiency in all strokes, and the ability to swim for long distances. V Skills Learned: : Increased stamina, and breath control both in high speed and high distance swimming. VI Skills Learned: Breath control in both high speed and high distance swimming, technique refinement of all strokes, and acceleration. POOL SCHEDULE East Lansing Hannah Community Center SUMMER 2021 Effective June 14, 2021 All lap swim times, open swim, and swim lessons must be reserved beforehand with our front desk staff or online by visiting our city website. Please call (517)333-2580 for questions and daily rate information. Schedule is subject to change as COVID-19 guidelines are updated. 6 a.m. – 10 a.m. Lap Swim Swim Lessons from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Kids Camps Lap Swim 12 p.m. – 3 p.m. Lap Lap swim times are for those who will be swimming laps, individual water aerobics, and Swim CLOSED for Private Lessons with an Aquatics staff members. Questions can be addressed to the Aquatic Specialist (517-319-6987).
