Inquires to Show Secretary: Florine Proud, 1405 Kingston Road, Kingston PE C0A 1H3 feproud23@bellaliant.net (902) 626-7915 (cell) RULES AND CONDITIONS MEMBERSHIP 1. Current EC Sport Licence is required to be eligible to participate as a rider, owner, lessee, agent or anyone schooling (EC Rules Article E7.11.12) at National Dressage Competitions. Competitors will require a 2021 EC Gold Competitive Sport Licence OR a 2021 EC Bronze Competitive Sport Licence. A photocopy of current EC Sport Licence MUST BE ATTACHED to the ENTRY FORM. Competitors who do not have a current EC Sport Licence will be obliged to purchase a temporary Sport Licence which is available for $71.00 each (there is no temporary Sport Licence for Bronze; bronze competitors must hold a Bronze EC Sport Licence). This fee cannot be applied to a subsequent regular Sport Licence application. A competitor may purchase as many temporary Sport Licences as required throughout the year. A parent signing a junior's entry form need not be a Sport Licence holder but must agree to abide by the EC rules and penalties as contained in the current rule book. Results achieved while competing with a Temporary Sport Licence may not be used to qualify for year-end awards, championship competitions, finals or subsequent competitions requiring qualification. (EC Rules Article A208) EC HORSE RECORDING 2. For the Gold Show, a valid EC Horse Recording is required and the competitor must have paid the annual activation fee. Ring numbers will not be issued without presentation of the EC Horse Recording. An exhibitor unable to present a horse's EC Horse Recording due to awaiting receipt must obtain from EC written notification the Horse Recording is en route or being processed prior to competing. The horse's name and Recording number must be clearly written. In case of a forgotten Recording, or if owned by temporary members, the owner must complete the temporary registration form and pay the temporary registration fee of $71.00; no points will be accumulated for EC awards. For the Bronze show, an EC Horse Recording is not required. VACCINATIONS 3. All horses attending Equestrian Canada sanctioned competitions must have met the requirements of Equestrian Canada, Section A, General Regulations, Article A519, Vaccinations, as follows: “All horses attending Equestrian Canada sanctioned competitions must have been administered Equine Influenza and Equine Herpes Virus (1&4) vaccinations within 6 months (+21 days grace period) before arrival at the event. No horse shall receive vaccination within 7 days prior to arrival at the event. Horses not in compliance with this rule may be asked to leave event site at the discretion of Competition Management. “The frequency of vaccine administration should be as recommended by the vaccine manufacturer or veterinarian. It is recommended that vaccines be administered by or under the direction of a veterinarian. Competition management may request supporting documentation confirming a horse’s compliance with mandatory vaccination requirements. “In the case of a horse that is unable to receive either of the vaccines, a letter from a veterinarian on official letterhead must be provided with the entry form, stating the horse cannot be vaccinated due to medical
concerns. At the discretion of competition management, a log of the horse’s temperature prior to arrival at the event site or during the event can be requested.” Dressage PEI show organizers recommend that your horse have a negative Coggins Test and recent Rhino virus inoculations. In addition, we recommend that your horse be immunized against Strangles. ENTRIES 4. Completed entries are to be sent to the Competition Secretary. The completed entry must supply all information required and payment of fees. 5. Entries may have to be limited. The Competition Committee does not accept responsibility for problems arising through the playing of the music. An opportunity for each competitor to play their music prior to show time will be arranged on each day of the show. HORS CONCOURS (Article E 7.11.11) 12 a. With permission of the organizing committee, horses may be entered hors concours (non-competitive). 12 b. Hors concours entries are not eligible for prizes, placings or awards. 12 c. Such entries must pay the full entry fee and are subject to all EC rules, including having EC horse identification where required.
12 d. A horse may be ridden both as an hors concours entry and a competitive entry at the same competition. The maximum number of tests ridden, whether competitive or not, is four per day including freestyle. REFUND POLICY 13. Do not participate in this EC sanctioned competition in any capacity if you do not consent to be bound by the constitution and rules of EC and any additional rules imposed by the competition.” 14. The Rules of the EC recognize 3 categories of competitors (EC Article E 3.4): CLASS CATEGORY ELIGIBILITY TO COMPETE Open (O) All competitors (regardless of age and/or amateur/professional status) Adult Amateur (AA) All athletes who are no longer Juniors under rule 3.4.3 (except as outlined in 3.4.2) individual Canadian competitors (see 3.4.2 – Amateur Status) Junior (J) Open to all athletes until the end of the calendar year in which they reach the age of 18. Masters (M) Open to riders 60 years of age and above. Not rated for EC Awards. The Amateur category is for athletes over the age of 18 who are not earning remuneration from teaching or training horses or riders in the horse industry. • Competitors in FEI-sanctioned competitions must comply with the FEI definition of amateur. • All persons wishing EC amateur status must complete and sign the amateur declaration, which is on the sport licence application/renewal form, affirming their eligibility (E 3.4.2). Masters category / Miscellaneous Class not rated for EC Awards: The Masters category is an Equestrian Canada (EC) dressage class that provides senior riders, 60 years and older, the opportunity to participate in a dressage class that is exclusively their own in an environment that provides a fair playing field for senior riders wherein each will compete against their peers at all levels of skill, from beginners to advanced. Details: • Masters classes are open to riders 60 years of age and above. • The class will be offered as a Miscellaneous Test of Choice class as per the EC Rules, Section A: General Regulations, A503 and will include all levels, national to FEI. • Scores from Masters classes will not count towards EC championships or awards programs. • Masters riders may also compete in non-Masters dressage classes. • To facilitate ease of riding, the following accommodations are available in the Masters Test of Choice: a. Rising trot is optional in all trot work.
b. Callers/riders may use headsets (someone, e.g., a steward, can stand beside the caller to ensure no coaching takes place). c. The rider can choose to ride one test and, upon payment of the appropriate fee, have the score considered for the other category. Riders may apply this to each of two levels (but see 7 above), thereby being eligible to ride a maximum of four tests (including the freestyle) at any given competition. EC Dressage tests will be used at all competitions. 16. A horse/rider combination may compete in any two consecutive levels and a maximum of four tests per day, including Freestyle, for Introductory, Training and First levels, and three tests per day including Freestyle for Second; Third and Fourth levels and all FEI tests. For further details, see Article E 7.11.9. 17. More than one athlete may compete on the same horse, but the horse may not compete against itself and may not compete in more than four tests or rides per day if the tests are First level or below or three tests per day at the Second level or above. 18. All tests can be found on the Equestrian Canada website. 19. The total length of the whip (including lash) must not exceed 120 cm. Whips for ponies must not exceed 100 cm in length including lash. 20. A tack check by the official Steward will be done immediately AFTER the rider leaves the ring.
