Editor’s Desk The first session of the 29th Synod of the Syro-Malabar Church was held online between 11th and 16th January under the leadership of Major Archbishop Cardinal Mar George Alencherry. The Synod was attended by 59 Bishops including the retired from both India and abroad out of 63. The Synod evaluated and discussed in detail the current church- related matters and the concerns of the faithful, general and particular. Major Archbishop Cardinal Mar George Alencherry thanked everyone who prayed for a fruitful synod led by the Holy Spirit. The month of January has witnessed various programs like the Mission Week (January 6- 12) coordinated by the Syro-Malabar Mission Office and the Unity Octave (January 18- 25) coordinated by the Commission for Ecumenism. The popular as well as the mainstream media advances with mediation theories compelling the people to read and interpret the news through fixed perspectives and frames, a by-product of agenda-setting. The Church needs to identify new ways to converse with the faithful today on digital platforms. She has to offer media literacy awareness in order to enable the faithful to read and interpret news and views that would mould public opinion, using their own reasoning process and understanding. We remember with prayers the farmers who are protesting in Delhi in the winter on roads! FR. ALEX ONAMPALLY SECRETARY, MEDIA COMMISSION
