MARCH 2021 Issue 3 From the Principal’s Desk Dear Parents and Students: As we prepare for our final quarter of the 2020-2021 school year, I want to again thank our faculty, staff, administrators, students and our parents for their steady support, patience, and understanding as we continue to navigate these unique times together. Together We Rise! We are completing the final steps of the registration process for the 2021–2022 school year. We truly appreciate the diligence our parents and students have shown toward this important endeavor. Many thanks to our dedicated school counselors, registration staff, and student services staff for their continued efforts with this year’s registration process. Additionally, as we continue to administer important testing on campus, we thank you for your support in that area as well. Special thanks to our Testing Administrator, Ms. Arika Sutton, Testing Coordinator, Ms. Lauren Axelrod, and the media center staff for their excellent job in coordinating and communicating testing for our students! Lake Howell Class of 2021: The Lake Howell Graduation Ceremony will be at the Bounce House on the University of Central Florida’s Campus May 18, 2021, at 9:00 a.m. Thank you for your patience and support as we were working behind the scenes to secure the site for our ceremony. Please note – this has changed from the information shared in the February letter to seniors and parents. Additional information regarding this special event and other senior activities will be forthcoming. 4 Culinary Arts Silverhawk Athletics!! Congratulations to all the sports teams on great seasons! We have had a great 2020-2021 year! Spring Football is underway with the spring game being played on Friday May 21st vs. Winter Springs here at Lake Howell at 6:00. Come out and support your Silverhawks as we prepare for next season. The first fall football game will be here before we know it. Fall sports will start prior to school starting next year. 6 Lake Howell Theatre Company “LIFE IS THE BUBBLES, UNDER THE SEA!” Proudly Presents... The Lake Howell Theatre Company is proudly concluding their 2020-2021 Season of Theatre with our Spring musical on the main stage: Disney’s The Little Mermaid! Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen's most beloved stories and the classic animated film, Disney's The Little Mermaid is a hauntingly beautiful love story for the ages. With music by eight-time Academy Award winner, Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater and a compelling book by Doug Wright, this fishy fable will capture your heart with its irresistible songs, including "Under the Sea," "Kiss the Girl," and "Part of Your World." Performances will take place Thursday-Saturday, April 22-24 at 7pm. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. 7 Dynasty Dancers CONGRATULATIONS Dynasty Dancers on their superior performances at M.A. FL State Dance Championships at Seminole High School. They took 1st place in the categories of Jazz, Contemporary and Hip Hop. They took 1st place for every dance entered, with several dances choreographed by Juniors Gabriela Gonzalez-Gonzalez and Brooke Beecher. Dynasty also won special team awards for “Outstanding Dance Technique,” “Judge’s Award,”” Outstanding First Place Dance Team,” and one of the highest competition awards “Super Sweepstakes Winner.” Natalya Nave received 5th place overall for her solo. Great job dancers! The Dance Program’s SPRING DANCE CONCERT will be divided into 2 evenings on April 29th and 30th at 7pm in the LHHS Auditorium, to allow for social distancing. Tickets will be $8 for adults and $5 for students/children. DYNASTY DANCE TEAM TRY-OUTS for 2021- 2022 will be held in the dance studio, 4-103, May 10- 14th. The audition fee is $10. Please wear black dance clothes, hair back, no jewelry and BRING A HEAD SHOT (printouts are fine).
