Dr. Seuss Spirit Week Each year, National Read Across America Day is celebrated on March 2, the birthday of Monday March 1-March 5 Dr. Seuss. The annual event is part of the Read Across America initiative on reading created by the National Education Association. The event calls all children and youth in every community across the United States to celebrate reading. Happy St. Patrick's Day and In honor of Read Across America March 1 - March 5 will be Dr. Seuss Week! Join us in the spirit of celebrating the love of reading by participating in daily observance of a few Curriculum Night great Dr. Seuss favorites. On Monday, March 1 we will observe “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Wednesday, March 17 Fish, Blue Fish" by wearing colorful clothing. Tuesday, March 2 “The Foot Book" by wearing Mismatched socks. Wednesday, March 3 “Wacky Wednesday"; Thursday, March 4 “Crazy Hair", and Friday, March 5 we will celebrate Dr. Seuss's Sleep Book with our Picture Day “Pajama Day"! Tuesday-Thursday March 23-25 On Tuesday, March 17 we will have our St. Patrick's Day parade. You are invited to bring in a treat to help children celebrate. Happy Holi We are excited to host our first virtual Curriculum Night on Tuesday, March 17. The topic Begins Sunday, March 28 of discussion will be "Kindergarten Expectations". Please expect an email and zoom link Ends Monday, March 29 for participation. Log on and join us for this informative discussion. Tuesday, March 23 through Thursday, March 25, Lifetouch will be onsite to capture professional pictures. Cap and gown pictures will be taken for our graduating Pre-K classes. You will receive more specific instructions and information on specific dates. We will celebrate Holi "Our Festival of Colors" beginning on March 28 and ending on March 29. Holi is one of the major festivals of India and is celebrated on different dates every year. This great Indian festival is observed at the end of the Winters in the month of March after the full Moon. We look forward to all of the fun activities we have planned! You've heard it all before. In fact, you probably remember a time where you said those exact words. Even the most seasoned adults know that patience takes hard work and a lot of, well…patience! Keeping your cool in the face of someone or something that is frustrating takes skill and practice. Practicing short periods of waiting at an early age can help build patience. While it is important to practice patience, parents should be realistic in their expectations when it comes to young children. Use these tips to handle the most common complaints for your little tykes: •Taking turns -It's smart to introduce the idea of waiting and taking turns now with a simple game of "my turn, your turn," that way your child doesn't always think they can have a turn without waiting. Matias patiently places each block where it needs to be •Nip the grumbling in the bud –Since minutes and hours don't mean much located to build his town. to kids this age, try to explain exactly what has to happen before your child can play. Need to finish a load of laundry first? Have dinner on the stove? Try setting a timer so your child can watch the progress. Remember to keep your promise and stop when it goes off. •I can do it! If your toddler insists on putting on his or her own jacket even though it will take an extra few minutes, let him or her do it. As parents, our tolerance is tested on a daily basis but its best to lay the groundwork and be a good example when it comes to teaching patience.
