MARCH 2021 CENTRAL COAST TOURISM NEWS AND EVENTS New Visitor Services Officer The Central Coast Council has employed a new visitor services officer to work from the Penguin and Ulverstone Visitor Information Centres. Julie Norbury commenced the role on Monday 15th February. Julie has many years’ experience as she has been a volunteer at the Ulverstone Visitor Information Centre for nine years. Julie also volunteers at Lillico Beach with the little penguin tours and for the Penguin Community Garden. Please welcome Julie, she will be an asset to both the Penguin and Ulverstone Visitor Centres. RARE EARTH TASMANIA Rare Earth Tasmania is a locally owned and operated nature-based business. Volunteers Wanted in Penguin The Ulverstone and Penguin Visitor Information Centres are always looking for volunteers to join their team. If you have time available and like the thought of assisting visitors with their travel plans, then call in to a Centre and pick up an Expression of Interest form. Successful candidates will join the volunteer team to keep both Centres open daily. As a volunteer you will enjoy familiarisation tours, regular get-togethers (when Covid 19 safety measures allow), tourism industry training and you will be eligible for some great discounts. Central Coast Voice The Central Coast Voice is a community newspaper with a circulation free to around 20,000 readers. Unfortunately, due to illness the publishers have been unable to produce this months edition. They are hoping to have the next edition out mid-March. The publishers are looking for volunteers to assist them with producing future editions of the Central Coast Voice. Help can be provided in your own home on your own computer. So, if you are interested in volunteering for the Central Coast Voice please send an email to administrator@thekentishvoice.com.au Ulverstone Miniature Railway The Ulverstone Miniature Railway is currently closed for maintenance. They will advise us when they open to the public again. This year's event is scheduled for Sunday March 7th, from 11:00am till 6:00pm. The festival will form part of the council-run Devonport Food and Wine Festival, scheduled right in the middle of the Festival's March program. Northern Tasmanian produce will be showcased by local growers, producers, and retailers including local vineyards, brewers and distilleries. Ted has been playing drums in modern jazz bands since the late 1950s. In 1970 he formed a partnership with pianist Bob and bassist Barry Buckley, which lasted a phenomenal 37 years.
