RCIA Gail Chaudrue 717-243-4411 x302 gchaudrue@saintpatrickchurch.org Prayers for those in RCIA Lent is a time of prayer and penance for the whole Church, especially for those participating in the RCIA. The Saint Patrick RCIA Team asks that you pray for those preparing to receive the Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil as they continue their faith journey with enthusiasm and expectation. Prayer for those in Formation: Father, guide them. Jesus, walk with them. Holy Spirit, fill their hearts with a desire for what is holy. Amen. RCIA: First Scrutiny: This weekend at Mass, we celebrate the first scrutiny. This scrutiny is inspired by the story of the conversion of the Samaritan woman at the well, and our need for God's living water. We pray that our Elect, like the Samaritan woman, will thirst for the living water that only Jesus can give. The Elect cannot celebrate Sacramental Confession yet (you have to be Baptized for that), so the Scrutinies are to uncover and heal all that is weak, defective or sinful in their hearts, and to bring out and strengthen all that is upright, strong and good. Basically, we say to the devil, “Hands-off! These are God’s chosen ones!” Those in preparation will also be Remember presented with the Creed. The Creed, as it recalls the wonderful deeds of God for the salvation of the human race, infuses the vision of the elect with In your mercy, the sure life of faith. please pray for the repose of the soul of: MUSIC Dr. David O’Donnell 717-243-4411 x204 music@saintpatrickchurch.org Joan Ward, mother of Mary Moll The Handbell Choir is open to anyone who has the desire to work hard and have fun! Any student looking for service hours or work opportunities this summer are invited to consider Saint Patrick Summer Camp. We are seeking creative and organized camp counselors to join our growing camp. In this position, you will play a key role in shaping and educating our campers by instructing them on numerous outdoor activities and experiences. You will also collaborate with other counselors, create recreational plans and activities, and lead campers in fun-filled projects. Opportunities are available for both volunteer and paid work for the whole summer, selected weeks or days. For more information, contact CARES Director Miss Sarah Winter: (717)249-2846 or swinter@spscarlisle.org. School Antoinette Oliverio - Principal, Saint Patrick School, 87 Marsh Drive, Carlisle, PA 17015, aoliverio@spscarlisle.org On Monday, March 21, some of you will be getting an evening call from the school. We're holding a phone-a-thon to support our Annual Fund, and students and school board members will be calling those who have donated in the past but not yet to this year's effort. If you see that it's us calling, don't ignore us! Answer the phone and chat, whether you're in the position to give or not. We love to touch base with our supporters. Student involvement in the phone-a-thon is one of the ways we encourage leadership. Calling a stranger to talk about money isn't exactly an 8th grader's idea of fun, but it offers several life lessons that we hope pay off beyond the Annual Fund's bottom line. As a Leader in Me School, we strive to give students opportunities to broaden their horizons. The Student Lighthouse Team, our equivalent of student government, is instrumental in the planning and execution of many student-based projects. Safety team members help younger children to their classes in the morning. Peer mediators work recess duty to help avoid or resolve minor conflicts. All around the building, we are working to build students of strong moral character who are eager to help and to lead us to a better future. 5
