BPP Area Issues Explanation / Background / What is the Question? Project Assurance "How do I handle assurance on public accounts?" Are Management there any best practices e.g. agreed upon solutions?" There is currently no public standard for providing assurance on public accounts in XBRL. If your project target public accounts, you need to decide how to handle this up front. The current solutions seen in different project are primarily that the XBRL report is an additional data-focused report/exhibit/attachment to the paper based report. Assurance on the XBRL report is typically “agreed upon procedures”, if any. (example: SEC-US). For non-public accounts or reports between a proprietary assurance solution can be developed. I.e. the participants in the reporting chain agree, that when submitting XBRL reports through the xx- channel, this always means that the submitter has done xxx assurance work (example: Dutch solution) Project Project Members "When setting up the project - in terms of members Management who do I need in the project team?" Get the right project members. Experience from almost any XBRL related project shows that a critical success factor is to include project participants with other skills than just it-expertise.
