Family History month Discover Your Family History Join our family history volunteer Sue for a session about discovering your family history. Sue will show you what records are available, how to organise your information and how to find stories from newspapers. This is a practical session, so bring your own laptop or borrow one of ours. There are two sessions to choose from: Friday 20 August 11:00am - 1:00pm Friday 27 August 2:00pm - 4:00pm

Our family history expert will show you all the library resources available including how to find newspaper articles online. This is a practical two hour session so bring your laptop (or borrow one of ours) and a USB drive to save what you find. Winter Film Festival Our film festival continues for its final month! This month we are screening four fantastic films: A Testament of Youth A powerful story of love, war and remembrance. The movie is based on a classic World War I memoir written by a woman. Thursday 5 August at 10:30am The King’s Speech After the death of his father King George V, Bertie who suffers from a debilitating speech impediment, is suddenly crowned King. Thursday 12 August at 10:30am Out of the Blue Celebrating Science Week: The murder of an astrophysicist leads detective Mike Hoolihan to New Orleans where the mystery affects her in ways she never expected. Thursday 19 August at 10:30am Toast Toast is the ultimate nostalgia trip through 1960’s Britain. The ISLAND project We are excited to support The ISLAND Project! This project involves a range of studies that relate to understanding who is most at risk of dementia and how those at risk can self-manage behaviours to build resilience to dementia.
