WELCOME This year, we are honored to serve as the Chair and Vice Chair of the first-ever virtual Magic Under the Mangroves, the Conservancy’s signature fundraising gala. As attendees of this event, you are helping to protect Southwest Florida’s unique, natural environment. In a year unlike any other, the Conservancy continues to work hard to protect Southwest Florida’s water, land, wildlife and future. This gala is the perfect opportunity to support these efforts, which include wildlife rehabilitation, protecting native species, and inspiring the next generation of environmental stewards. Named one of the top charitable events in Naples, Magic Under the Mangroves helps move the Conservancy’s mission forward year after year. Since its inception, Magic has raised over 13 million dollars. All funds are used to support local environmental causes. As the MAGIC HOUR approaches, we hope you are inspired to support the Conservancy at the 2021 Magic Under the Mangroves on Thursday, March 4th at 5:30pm. We look forward to celebrating virtually with you. Sincerely, Katrina Lundmark-Kash Carol Walter Chair Vice-Chair
MOVING THE MISSION FORWARD Live FUND-A-NEED When the sun greets the horizon and the city takes a breath, the birds will fly home under a sky bathed in color. When the light slants in and the shadows grow long, the magic will be revealed, though it was there all along. To honor the beauty of The Magic Hour, the Conservancy of Southwest Florida is hosting the 17th annual Magic Under the Mangroves Gala on March 4th, 2021 as a virtual experience. While this has been an unprecedented year, the Conservancy has worked to continue moving the mission forward through scientific research, wildlife rehabilitation, environmental education, advocacy, and environmental policy efforts. As we continue to address the challenges of protecting our environment, we must ensure we are sustaining our current and future needs. This year we will work together to: • Inspire the next generation of environmental leaders through virtual education and our new mobile classroom • Treat over 4,000 patients at our von Arx Wildlife Hospital • Protect 420 loggerhead sea turtle nests • Remove 5,000 pounds of invasive Burmese python from our local ecosystem • Work with local, state and federal officials to balance growth throughout our region and advocate for clean water During the Live Fund-A-Need portion of our virtual event, please bid to support our work and our mission.
