Countries taking part in the tournament
So far 20 countries have qualified. Because 4 countries have yet to qualify, these countries
have been replaced with very special teams!

In this booklet, there are details of the home ground for every team. This includes the stadium
capacity, pitch size and club badge. However, this tournament is unusual because there are
12 host cities:

   · Wembley Stadium - London, England

   · Allianz Arena - Munich, Germany

   · Stadio Olimpico - Rome, Italy

   · Olympic Stadium - Baku, Azerbaijan

   · Krestovsky Stadium - Saint Petersburg, Russia

   · Arena Nationala - Bucharest, Romania

   · Johan Cruyff Arena - Amsterdam, Holland

   · Aviva Stadium - Dublin, Ireland

   · San Mames - Bilbao, Spain

   · Puskas Arena - Budapest, Hungary

   · Hampden Park - Glasgow, Scotland

   · Parken Stadium - Copenhagen, Denmark

As an extra challenge, research any grounds that are not included in this booklet and create
bar charts to record the capacity of each ground and also work out the area and perimeter of
each pitch.

Learning Objectives
Measures

Use, read, write and convert between standard units, converting measurements of length, mass, volume
and time

Convert between miles and kilometres

Recognise that shapes with the same areas can have different perimeters and vice versa

Recognise when it is possible to use formulae for area and volume of shapes

Calculate the area of parallelograms and triangles

Number

Solve problems involving addition, subtraction, multiplication and division

Shape

Visualise common 2-D shapes and 3-D solids; identify shapes from pictures of them in different positions
and orientations; sort, make and describe shapes, referring to their properties

Identify reflective symmetry in patterns and 2-D shapes and draw lines of symmetry in shapes

Draw 2-D shapes using given dimensions and angles

Recognise, describe and build simple 3-D shapes, including making nets

Compare and classify geometric shapes based on their properties and sizes and find unknown angles in any
triangles, quadrilaterals, and regular polygons

Illustrate and name parts of circles, including radius, diameter and circumference and know that the diame-
ter is twice the radius

Recognise angles where they meet at a point, are on a straight line, or are vertically opposite, and find
missing angles.

Position & Direction

Describe positions on the full coordinate grid (all 4 quadrants)

Draw and translate simple shapes on the coordinate plane, and reflect them in the axes.

Statistics
Interpret and construct bar charts and line graphs and use these to solve problems
Measures - length
Use this page to design your own football stadium
Measure the perimeter and calculate the area of your stadium
Measures - length
Work out the area and perimeter of all of the stadiums.
Shape - Flags
Design your own flag. Your flag must contain:
   · 2 lines of symmetry
   · a right, acute, obtuse and reflex angles
   · a perpendicular line
   · parallel lines
If you have a protractor then measure the angles in your flag. Are opposite angles equal?

Can you phone or Skype a friend? Do not let your friend see your flag. Give instructions so that they can
replicate your design. You will need to give details of angle measurements and lengths.

Give instructions for a friend to translate your flag.
Shape - Stadiums
Design your own stadium.
Label the properties of shapes in your stadium, for example the radius, diameter and circumference of the
centre circle.
Statistics
Create a bar chart to show the capacity of each stadium

Examine your data:
   · What ground has the highest capacity?

   · What ground has the lowest capacity?

   · What is the difference between the highest and lowest capacity?
Statistics
Research the temperature in Wembley over the last twelve months. Create a line graph to show the
different temperatures. Use a red pencil to show the average highs and a blue pencil to show the average
lows.
Direction
Plot the different stadiums on the map.
Which two stadiums are the furthest apart? Write this in miles and kilometres.
Which two stadiums are closest together? Write this in miles and kilometres.

Where is Wales on the map?
What is Holland also known as?

Who would you take to the match with you? Where would you sit? How much will tickets cost you
Measures - time

Each half of a match lasts for 45 minutes. Without any added time, how long will England play for in all of
their matches? What if they qualify for the next round of 16?

If we’re really lucky and make it past the next round, work out how many minutes we play for including the
quarter finals.

I want to watch the semi-final at Wembley. My train leaves Retford at 8.35am and takes 1 hour 40 minutes
to get to London King’s Cross. What time does my train arrive?

I then need to get the underground to Wembley. The journey takes 20 minutes. Trains leave every 10
minutes and you need time to buy your ticket. What is the earliest that you could arrive at Wembley?

It is 146.1 miles from Netherton Road to Wembley Stadium. My sat nav estimates a journey time of 2 hours
and 41 minutes from Worksop to London. If I allow an hour for traffic and I want to arrive in London 2 hours
before the match, what time do I need to set off from Worksop?
