• CS needs more space in A-corridor for new
arrivals
– Move terminals of control room to 864-R-B29
• request being made by CS section refurbish this room
including proper sink
• review the use of this room after the works are done at
the beginning of 2019
• Storage space during LS2
– Faraday Cage refurbishment

• Safety
– Safety first (drilling machine, procedures ?)
– Lead inventory collected by HSE via BE Safety, I flagged
• solder, for repairs, unavoidable; fume extraction (!)
• the “occasional, odd” lead brick in the tunnel to protect electronics; do we have
any that we rely upon that cannot be replaced by something else ? I do not
consider those bricks in the tunnel (if any) directly “FB” section owned, t.b.c.
• Lead risk will be included in yearly safety form; please truly review safety forms
each year (!)
– Habilitation electrique certificates: the responsibility for issuing the
paper to refreshers is being clarified by HSE (signature is by BE-RF GL: Erk
Jensen)

SPS LIU (confirmed) and HL-LHC (under discussion)
• Group is requesting fellows from DGP budget for
completion of upgrades in LS2 and re-commissioning
(expect that not all will be approved)

• contract signatures were for the 2017 exercise spread

Review Working Group:
– Target: recommendations to achieve budget cut (in
CHF) of 2.5% overall for CERN (I understand some
projects are “ring fenced”)
– My comment: varying CERN budget due to exchange
rate fluctuations and the mechanism in place to
adjust the budget in CHF every year; 2.5% of what ?
