Fraternal Order of Eagles Willamette Aerie & Auxiliary No. 2081 The Eagle Beak Salem, Oregon “People Helping People” APRIL 2021 VERY IMPORTANT AGENDA FOR THE AERIE We well be holding Aerie Officers nominations April 20, 2021 at our third Tuesday Aerie meeting at 7:00 pm. All positions will be open. Worthy President, Worthy Vice President, Aerie Secretary, Treasurer, Conductor, Chaplain, Inside Guard, 5 Trustee seats. If these positions are not filled this year. Grand Aerie may not hesitate this year to send in an agent to find out why Willamette Aerie no 2081 members are not participating as officers, why all the Trial Committee seats are not filled, Aerie Auditor and all the Aerie committees. As members we need to fill our obligations. Without these positions, filled the door will shut and the building surrendered to the Grand Aerie. We had to cancel our Aerie meeting March 16. Three Aerie members showed for the meeting which had to be canceled due to lack of participation. The Grand Aerie Articles of Incorporation Constitution and Statues, Section 72.5 Seven (7) members of a Local Aerie, of which two (2) must be elected officers, shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business at Aerie meeting. What does this tell you when we have 252 Local Aerie members? Visitation- Worthy State President Steve Wiley will be visiting our Aerie on April 30, 2021 at 5:00 pm. Please come and support his worthy charity. His charity project is to raise funds for the construction of the Vietnam War Memorial on the State Capitol grounds in Salem, Oregon. For those that served in this war, the memorial will be a source of healing and reconciliation. For others, it is a place for “Honoring, Thanks and Remembrance “and that is the theme for this project. AERIE DUES CHANGE FOR 2021-2022. This is for the Aerie members only not for Auxiliary. On March 2, 2021 at our Tuesday meeting, the members had a discussion on how to handle the dues that are coming up for the 2021-2022 membership year. We have decided to have the Aerie members pay this year only $27.00 to cover the per-capita taxes that we owe Grand Aerie and Oregon Aerie. This will be only for the members that paid their dues for 2019-2020. The Aerie will cover the other $33.00 out of our savings account. Dual members will pay the $15.00 per year. The reason for the drop in the membership dues is because of the bar and kitchen being closed for remodel. We were open for meetings. This deduction was not for the 9 months we were closed for COVID- 19. Please disregard the invoice you will be receiving from Grand Aerie. You can use the envelope they are sending you with the invoice with the amount of $60.00, please only send $27.00 for the 2021- 2022 year. If you do not use Grand Aerie envelope the address is Willamette Aerie no 2081 PO BOX 13400 Salem, Oregon 97309
MESSAGE FROM WORTHY PREISDENT I need to get committees filled as soon as possible. It is the Aerie membership that is responsible for events not the Trustees. The entertainment Committee will put together the events and the Trustee approve the event as long as it is a money maker. Until we get a Entertainment Committee we will be sitting in limbo for events. Please See Trustee Harry Ditton to help on the membership committee. Please follow the rules that the Trustees have put in place. This is especially important, remember if we get COVID-19 in the building it will be shut down for 21 days for cleaning. April is our nominations for new Aerie officers. All positions are open. Please come and see me if you’re interested. Please remember we are responsible for participating and attending meetings. Worth President Dale Vanderzanden “With pride and fun, it can be done, and we will do it !!” MESSAGE FROM MADAME PRESIDENT – AERIE SECRETARY MESSAGE Well I really was disappointed the last couple of weeks of March. We had to cancel the Aerie meeting March 16 because only 3 members showed up to attend. I wonder what the new candidates would have thought when they showed up to be initiated as a new member and we had to cancel the meeting because no Aerie member show for initiation night. Which is the third Tuesday of the month. We do have candidates for initiation on April 20. When we opened on March 24, we could have seen at least 30 people each day, we may have seen 30 people for the whole 4 days. Saturday no one showed. Everyone kept asking when are we going to get to dance, when will BINGO start, Karaoke, pool league? Dancing will not resume until the Governor allows dancing. We can’t stop other establishment from dancing. We need people to step up and be on committees. Worthy President has been trying hard to find members to fill committees. I hope the tide turns and you all consider being a officer, coming to meetings, sign up to be on committees, pay your dues, get new members and doing a lot of Charity work. This is what keeps our Aerie running. AUXILIARY SECRETARY MESSAGE TRUSTEES’ CORNER YAY. We’re finally open. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 4 PM til 10 PM. However, we will probably change hours to 3 PM til 9 PM, except poker nights, until it stays lighter later. The first poker game will be on Wednesday, March 31st at 5 PM. We are considering Karaoke on Thursdays. The cover charge will be somewhere between $7 to $10 in order to cover the entire cost of a KJ. We would appreciate input as to members’ interest in Karaoke. Either come to a Trustees’ meeting or e-mail us at FOE2081@GMAIL.COM. We have been in contact with several KJ’s and would like to schedule as soon as possible, but we need your input. Come out and support the Willamette Eagles.
