Following the opening of Disneyland in 1955, Walt Disney and his team had big ideas for his "Florida H I S T O R Y Project". With over 43 square miles to work with in Central Florida, there was no end to the amount of dreaming that would follow over the years. Walt had planned to expand on what worked at his Disneyland park and make his Florida park even more magical! Walt Disney World opened on October 1, 1971, with just one theme park, followed by just two resorts a few days later. Today the Walt Disney World Resort includes over 25 resorts, 2 water parks, 3 golf courses, a shopping/dining/entertainment district as well as a 750-acre campground... and so much more!
V i s i t t o T i m e B e s t One of the most popular questions we get is "When is the best time of year to visit Walt Disney World?" While many families have to plan around school and work schedules, we are breaking down our favorite times of year to visit the parks!
V i s i t Bring a Coat! While the early months of the year can bring slightly chilly temps (60's during the day) if you can head to Disney in January and February (avoiding holidays), you'll find lower crowds and shorter wait times! You might miss the pools (though they are heated so you certainly can still swim), but it will be worth it for all the shows and attractions you'll be able to fit into one trip! And don't miss out on EPCOT's International Festival of the Arts! School's out for Summer Traditionally, summer has been very busy at the Walt Disney World Resort. We have noticed in the past few years that many families are opting to travel t o to Disney over school holidays, leaving the summer months a bit quieter. This time frame is moderately busy, but for many families, will be a great option. We highly recommend adding the Water Park and Sports Option to your ticket to take advantage of Disney's two amazing water parks. T i m e Fall in Love While Halloween has become a major event at the Walt Disney World Resort over the years, you can still find some quiet times to visit the parks. We highly recommend visiting in September or early October for slightly cooler temps and less expensive flights. Plus, don't miss out on EPCOT's International Food and Wine Festival and Boo Bash at Magic Kingdom! B e s t Happy Holidays Arguably, the most magical time to visit Walt Disney World is during the holidays! To avoid the crowds, try visiting during the first two weeks of December. While you'll find moderate crowds, the holiday decor and events will completely make up for it! Don't miss out on EPCOT's International Festival of Holidays, Candlelight Processional, & Disney Very Merriest - After Hours at Magic Kingdom!
Festivals & Events CELEBRATE! Throughout the year, you will find several amazing festivals and events throughout Walt Disney World! January 2022 through February 2022 runDisney's Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend EPCOT International Festival of the Arts runDisney's Princess Half Marathon Weekend March 2022 through May 2022 EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival runDisney's Springtime Surprise Weekend August 2022 through October 2022 Disney After Hours BOO BASH at Magic Kingdom EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival November 2022 through December 2022 runDisney's Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival Disney Very Merriest After Hours at Magic Kingdom EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays
P a r k s Four Theme Parks... and so much more! T h e m e Unlike its sister park in California, the Walt Disney World Resort consists of four main theme parks... PLUS two water parks, three golf courses, a campground, a shopping/dining/entertainment district, and more! T h a n You could stay in the magic for as long as 14 days and still not see and do everything! For a first time vacation, we highly recommend a full week, but the best part of a Disney vacation is that no matter how long your vacation is, you'll be immersed in the magic! M o r e

RESORT CATEGORIES
Resort Categories Resort Categories When it comes to a Walt Disney World Vacation, there is no better way to immerse yourself in the magic than to stay at one of the over 25 onsite resort hotels. With a variety of budgets and amenities, you are sure to find the best resort for your family. Disney has conveniently broken down the resorts into categories... Let's take a look at each!
Value Resorts Resort Categories Value Resorts are going to offer the most basic amenities on-site. Each of the five Value Resorts have standard and preferred location rooms - - the preferred rooms are going to be more centrally located near the main building -- closest to the food court, the main pool, and the bus stops. Pop Century and Art of Animation Preferred Rooms will also have the luxury of being located closest to bridge that connects the two resorts, which is where the Skyliner is located. There will not be a table service dining option at any of the Value Resorts, however, there will be a pool bar at the main pool of each resort. The standard guest rooms at the Value Resorts will also be the smallest of the standard guest rooms amongst the Walt Disney Resort hotels, but there will still be ample room for a family to rest their heads at night. Moderate Resorts Moderate Resorts are going to offer a few more amenities than the Value Resorts. The main pools have water slides for some added fun when you take a break from the parks, as well as a splash area for younger guests. Similar to the Value Resorts, you will find a food court at each Moderate Resort; most of them also have a sit-down dining option on-site. The one exception is Port Orleans - French Quarter. French Quarter is the smallest and most quaint of the Walt Disney World Resort hotels, but it’s located next to it's sister propert: Port Orleans - Riverside. You can either walk or take a boat to Riverside, where you will find a sit-down restaurant (as well as another food court!) The Moderate Resorts offer a few added perks you won’t find at Value Resorts. Caribbean Beach and Port Orleans - Riverside have rooms with a 5th-sleeper to accommodate some larger families without needing to book a second room or suite/villa. Many of these resorts offer rooms with different views (garden/woods view, water view) as well as a preferred location to be closer to all the action.
Deluxe Resorts Resort Categories Deluxe Resorts are going to offer the ultimate amenities for your Disney vacation. From rooms that sleep 5 with larger bathrooms and more overall square footage, to resort amenities that include spas, pools with everything from waterslides to water parks (some even with sandy bottoms!!), and full-service restaurants, these amazing properties are also located as close as possible to theme park entrances. While you'll need to take a bus from every resort on Disney property at some point, most of the Deluxe Resorts also offer alternate transportation options, such as Monorail (Disney's Grand Floridian, Polynesian Village and Contemporary Resorts) and Boats (previously mentioned Monorail Resorts, as well as Disney's Wilderness Lodge, Disney's Beach and Yacht Club Resorts, and Disney's BoardWalk Inn). Deluxe Villa Resorts Looking for larger accommodations? Deluxe Villa Resorts offer Studio, 1, 2 and 3 Bedroom Villas at the following Disney Resort hotels: Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort | Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney's Wilderness Lodge Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas - Jambo House and Kidani Village Disney’s Beach Club Villas | Disney’s BoardWalk Villas Disney's Old Key West Resort | Disney’s Polynesian Villas and Bungalows Disney's Riviera Resort | Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
