Timing Chips – how to wear PTWC: • 1 on the handcycle (rear axle - safety bar) • 1 on the wheelchair (close to the front fork) PTS2/PTS3/PTS4/PTS5: • Double amputees : Bike prosthesis + Run prosthesis • Single amputees : Existing ankle + Bike prosthesis • No amputation : Both ankles PTVI: 1 on Athlete ankle, 1 on Guide ankle
Allow Equipment - Uniform Swim • Leg and arm covers are allowed • Wetsuits up to 5mm thickness • Vest warmers are NOT allowed • Gloves are NOT permitted • Any part of the body maybe covered except the face, hands and feet • No prosthesis socks, unless the pins are adequately covered. This will be checked • PTVI 1 athletes must wear black-out goggles during the swim and can only be removed once the bike position has been reached in transition
Allow Equipment - Uniform Run & Bike • Athletes can wear long sleeved shirt under their uniform – it must be worn for the entire event • PTWC athletes can wear uniform with sleeves extending from the shoulder up to but not covering the elbow • Arm covers can be worn and can be removed during the event BUT only in Transition. Removal elsewhere during the race will lead to DSQ • If you prefer to wear a jacket during the event, it must be • PTVI 1 athletes must wear black-out glasses on the bike and run segments
Transition Area • A chair will be provided for each of the athletes (except PTWC) • To add anything to the bike, approval is to be obtained from the Head Referee during Registration • Only Athletes and their Handlers will be allowed into the transition • Running shoes on the ground, helmet on the bike • Do not leave your helmet strap fastened in the transition Athlete who does not comply with this rule will receive a 10 second time penalty in TA1 • Spare wheels collected at bike check and returned to Athletes’ Lounge after the race

Pre-Start Procedure Athletes’ Introduction • 10 minutes before the start, line up before entrance to pontoon • Wear official swim cap, 2nd swim cap unbranded • Introduction order: PTS5M, PTVI/ All standing categories/ PTWC • Wave number, then category, then race number • Move to the swim start pontoon when you are introduced. Remove the mask before entering the pontoon. • Leave your prosthesis, crutches, etc. at pre-transition to the numbered chair according to the last digit of your race number • Officials can assist you to the start pontoon • Select your position and sit on the pontoon. Please remain there until instructed to enter the water

Pre-Start Procedure Waves Starts • Interval Start System PTVI & PTWC • Each wave will start at an exact time • Please follow instructions promptly Water temperature limit for wetsuit use: 24.6º PTWC wetsuit bottoms always allowed if the swim takes place
Start Procedures for Waves Athletes in position in the water: • Deep water start • One hand on the pontoon • The start can be given any time after the Starter announces “On your mark” • Electronic horn blasts • The race starts
False Start Procedure False start with many athletes: • Several electronic horn blasts • Kayaks in front of you • Everyone goes back to his or her original start spot Valid start but with early starters: • If someone starts before the horn and everyone else starts with the horn, the false starter will receive a time penalty of 10 seconds in T1 During the time penalty the athlete cannot touch any race equipment

Swim Course
PTVI Swim Conduct • Each athlete must be tethered to their own guide during the swim. • At no time may a guide lead or pace the competitor nor propel them forward by pulling or pushing. • The guide must swim next to the athlete within a maximum separation distance of 1.5m from the athlete’s head to the . • The tether should be elastic rope with bright or reflective colour and up to 0.8m long measured with no tension. It can be fixed at Drawing not to scale any point of the athletes' body. head can be at any point with the two red hemispheres next to the athlete, as shown above, if outside these areas, it will be considered as a violation.
Swim Exit Handling Swim exit handling only by the LOC Swim Exit Assistants They will provide support to all athletes according to their swim caps colour. No Personal Handlers allowed to assist at Swim Exit.
Pre-transition • Athletes’ registered equipment (prosthesis, crutches, day chairs) • Folding chairs with numbers - athletes must leave their prosthesis or crutches at the chair with the same number as the last digit of their race number • Athletes from PTVI are not allowed to use the pre-transition area • Only PTWC Handlers are allowed in this area • PTWC athletes must transfer in a daily wheelchair from pre-transition to transition
Pre-transition • No wetsuit removal by TOs and volunteers • No athletes’ equipment can be left in the pre-transition area, once the athlete exits the pre-transition area • Adapted cleats and bike shoes with non-exposed cleats are allowed provided the cleats are covered or enclosed by anti-slip material • PTS2 to PTS5 with an absent lower limb must use a prosthesis or crutches between pre-transition and transition. Hopping on one leg is not allowed.

Transition 1 • Individual bike racks • Name, number, country code and flag • All mobility equipment shall remain within the assigned space in transition. Used swim caps, goggles, wetsuits, tethers in the box Failure to do so = 10 second penalty on run • Mount line at the end of transition (GREEN LINE) • PTWC shall stop at mount line and wait TO signal to start • PTWC athletes must put the bib at the back of the handcycle

Bike Course • 4 laps of 5km (total distance of 20km) • Only come into Yamashita Park on the final lap for T2 • Flat, reasonably technical • Draft illegal race • 1 Wheel Station (approx. 2km into lap) • Bike Penalty Box located just after the wheel station • Ride on the left, pass on the right • Littering zones = PTWC Run Aid Stations

Bike Draft Zone • Legal distance: 10m between bikes (from front wheel to their front wheel) • Maximum 20 seconds allowed to pass • Blue Card for drafting offence • In case of penalty, stop at the Bike Penalty Box – 1 minute • Not stopping or second drafting offence – DSQ • It is the athletes responsibility to stop at the Bike Penalty Box – numbers not posted on board • Dismount the bike and inform the Bike Penalty Box TO your race number, the number of penalties to serve, and the colour of card received
Bike Draft Zone • Legal distance: 10m from front wheel to front wheel 20 seconds to overpass
Bike Littering for littering offence • In case of penalty, stop at the Bike Penalty Box – 10 sec • It is the athlete’s responsibility to stop at the Penalty Box – numbers not posted on board • Dismount the bike and inform the Bike Penalty Box TO your race number, the number of penalties to serve, and the colour of card received • 2 accumulated drafting time penalties = DSQ
PTWC Handlers Direction after T1&T2 • Personal Handlers moving to the Wheel Stop should inform the TOs that they are going there • Remove all your athlete’s equipment after Transition 2 to designated area • Proceed to finish line via Recovery area, off the FOP • Do not go down the finish chute
Transition 2 • All mobility equipment shall remain within the assigned space in transition. Used helmets, sunglasses in the box • Failure to do so = 10 second penalty on run • Dismount line at the beginning of transition (RED LINE) • PTWC shall stop at dismount line and wait TO signal to start • PTS2-S5 & PTVI must dismount before the dismount line • PTWC athletes must put the bib at the back of the racing wheelchair • LOC will remove PTS5, PTVI & PTS4 athletes’ bikes and equipment from Transition after T2 to designated area

Run Penalty Box • Penalty box is for infringements in: Swim, TA1, Bike, TA2 and Run • eg: swim conduct, mount before mount line, dismount after dismount line, equipment outside your box, rack the bike outside your own space, littering outside the littering zone, etc. • Location: Before entering the finish chute • Information: White board to show race numbers (and letter) (Athletes need to read the board) • Procedure: 10 second time penalty served on any lap of the run
Run Penalty Box • Penalties must be posted prior to the last lap on the run. Any penalties following that point will be served on the spot. • Athletes have the option to decide whether to stop at the penalty box and serve the penalty or continue to the finish. Not stopping will result in DSQ on crossing the finish line. The athlete may then appeal the penalty. Evidence will only be made available if an appeal is filed.
Run Penalty Box If you incur a penalty, you will find your number plus a letter code indicating the nature of the infraction: D = Dismount Line Violation S = Swim Conduct M = Mount Line violation E = Equipment Outside Box L = Littering V = Other Violations For example: 12D….athlete #12 received a time penalty for a dismount line violation 12 x 2 ME…athlete #12 received 2 time penalties for mount line and equipment outside the box violations 55
Post Race Procedures • Photo-finish • No congestion in the finish area: go to PCR test/recovery area • For Top 3 and Series Leaders • TV/Flash Interviews • Medal Ceremony • For awards, dress “up” – with race uniform (or country clothes) Ambush marketing rules apply • Prize money will be wire transferred to the athletes 56
Medal Ceremony • Everyone keep his/her mask on the whole time. No photo without mask. • No flowers. • No beer celebration. But a glass of beer will be on the podium (gold medalist only). • 1 hostess/volunteer with face shield/mask and gloves to prepare and hold the tray with the medal and trophy to each athlete • Each athlete is taking on his/her own the medal/trophy/sash. • National anthem and flags raising as per usual. • No handshaking/ hugs 57
Ambush Marketing Rules • Ambush marketing is defined as: “Deliberately using the opportunity of live television and media photographers to expose the sponsor logos larger than the approved sizes, and/or equipment or objects not provided by LOC or World Triathlon.” • The consequence for this behaviour is that the athlete will immediately forfeit their prize money for that event, if any • Please follow the ambush marketing rule 58
Post Race Procedures Anti-Doping Control • Photo ID is needed for every athlete to go for testing. The tests will be carried out at Hotel New Grand. Team Medical Access • Only team medical will be allowed to enter the medical tent after World Triathlon Medical Delegate’s permission. • Every NF can have 1 team medical accreditation. Team doctors should register with the World Triathlon Medical Delegate. 59

Coaches Run Access • One coach per NF is allowed to have access on the site run course for 30 minutes from 9:15 after the paratriathlon event, in a time when course is properly setup and secured. • Vests are provided to those coaches from the LOC. • All coaches will start at the same time from the same start point (meeting point) at Transition. • Coaches who require this access, must register with the technical officials during registration.

Handlers Notes • Personal handers are specifically allowed to assist paratriathletes by: ü Helping with prosthetic devices/assistive devices ü Lifting the participants in and out of handcycles and wheelchairs ü Removing wetsuits or clothing ü Repairing flats, punctures and helping with other equipment • All handlers shall be subjected to the World Triathlon Competition Rules • Any action taken by the Handler which propels the competitor forward may at the discretion of the Head Referee, be grounds for a time penalty or disqualification • Personal handlers can only assist with their athlete • World Triathlon has to approve the need of handlers for the PTS2, PTS3, PTS4 and PTS5 athletes

Anti-doping World Triathlon has identified various levels of its Education Pool as its Registered Testing Pool (RTP) athletes, Testing Pool (TP) athletes, accredited coaches for its World Cup and World Triathlon Championships Series events as well as athletes qualified to go to 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games. The below need to complete their respective course by 30th of June 2021: •RTP athletes must complete WADA’s ADEL for Registered Testing Pool Athletes course •TP athletes must complete the WADA “International-Level Athletes Education Program” course •Athletes attending the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games must complete WADA’s ADEL for Tokyo 2020 Olympics course •High Performance Coaches and National accredited Elite Coaches who would like to be accredited for the World Triathlon Events must complete WADA’s High Performance Coaches course Certificate of completion needs to be submitted to World Triathlon at antidoping@triathlon.org 70
