We are delighted to be in Cork for the first time to celebrate the 12th Annual Medtech CEO Conference and Awards, jointly hosted by the Irish Medtech Association, the Ibec sector group, Enterprise Ireland and IDA Ireland. Medtech Rising is a two-day event which has become one of the largest of its kind for senior medtech professionals in Ireland. Medtech is all about innovation, and this year we are focusing so many sessions around this theme. From understanding how value-based health impacts innovation, to hearing the latest trends in AI, 3D and robotics in surgery from global physicians. As well as understanding how to engage in the Irish innovation ecosystem to attract and build R&D capability here. We will have lots of innovative companies talking about their R&D strategies from a product portfolio, clinical engagment and collaboration perspectives. We will also hear how new business models, partnerships, and surgical solutions by tech firms will change the dynamics of the conventional medical device treatment world. Day Two / 6 December MC Anton Savage, Journalist Session 6 Trade Wars, Brexit and the evolution of the global political and economic landscape: How Ireland is responding and what it means for your business Half of Irish Medtech Association member companies said Brexit is expected to lead to greater customs cost and skills shortages and one in four medtech companies identified UK-EU regulatory divergence as a risk. Further afield fears remain that tariffs imposed on steel and aluminium will lead to serious effects on medtech and may lead to a trade war with the EU. Irish Medtech Awards As a global hub for medtech, we want to recognise the ambition and success of medtech companies in Ireland. Members of the Irish Medtech Association (Ibec), Enterprise Ireland and IDA Ireland can compete across six categories that reflect the depth and breadth of the sector here. At the annual black tie dinner, 6 December in the Rochestown Park Hotel, Cork, we will celebrate the medtech industry’s strengths and successes at the must-attend event. The evening will start with a drinks reception at 19.30 and then close after the awards announcements at midnight. Shuttle busses will be available to take delegates from the Maryborough Hotel, Silver Springs Hotel and Radisson Blu Hotel to the event in Rochestown Park Hotel and back at the end of the evening.
