OPTIMISING YOUR INSTAGRAM PROFILE Is your Instagram profile working hard for your business and your marketing strategy? As well as the photos that show up in the News Feed, and the Stories or Videos, your Instagram profile is important to achieving your marketing goals. If potential followers stumble across your Instagram account as they scroll through their feeds, or if you come up in Search results, they are likely to visit your profile to decide whether or not they want to follow you. Optimising your profile is important to capture that traffic and turn them into followers, and customers. Please see the checklist below to help you bring your profile to its best. PROFILE PICTURE Is your profile picture consistent with your other social media profiles (so it’s recognisable to people who are following you on other platforms)? USERNAME Is your username consistent with your other social media profiles? Is it as close to your name or business name as you can get it? ACCOUNT NAME Does your account name include keywords (to help people find you when they search for your business or product)? How would your ideal customer search for you? BIO There are 150 characters in an Instagram bio. Does your bio describe what you do? Does it capture people’s attention? Does it show your personality? Does it tell them how you can help them? Do you use emojis for interest? Tip: Use the Notes feature on your phone to format your bio, then copy and paste it into the Profile section of your Instagram account. This will help you keep formatting. LINK IN BIO This is the only clickable link in Instagram for many accounts. Does your link take visitors to a relevant page? Is the landing page they’re taken to mobile responsive? Have you considered using a tool like link.tree to offer more than one link to your followers. Tip: Linktr.ee provides a landing page where you can link to different pages / website depending on the call to action. IS YOUR ACCOUNT A BUSINESS PROFILE? Business profiles provide more functionality, including valuable Insights. They also give you the opportunity to advertise via Facebook Advertising, and enable shoppable Instagram. On a Business Profile you have Calls-To-Action included right on your profile page enabling followers to get in touch with you. To switch to a Business Account, go to Menu > Settings > Switch to Business Profile. TOP 9 PHOTOS When people visit your profile, they will see the first few rows of photos. Are they really representing your brand? Do they communicate the message you want to get across? Does your feed look clean, uncluttered and appealing?
