Loving God | Loving Each Other | Loving One Another

Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
Hope everyone had a wonderful festive season. Janice and I
spent Christmas with our families in Dannevirke, the first time
ever without any of our boys. How different that was, and how
quiet!
We then had an amazing couple of weeks touring around the
Catlins and Fiordland area. What a stunning country we live in,
the mountains, seas, birds; this magnificent creation shouting
the glory of God! Creation actually came up close and personal
to me – one morning I was praying, eyes closed in deep
communion with the Lord, and a little robin pecked me on the
toe, gave me a huge fright! Crazy eh…?
So to the new year of 2019. It was so great sitting as part of the
congregation on Sunday, sensing the expectation and
opportunities of the coming year. I loved being immersed
afresh in worship, and Andy’s excellent outline of the book of
Ephesians and the invitation for us to live according to our true
identity in Christ, through the Fathers love.

This week we are privileged to host the Father Heart
Conference at Northcity, and we are loving soaking in the
experience of Father God’s great love for us all. It seems a
great way to start the year, refreshed and reminded of His
Goodness, His empowering Presence; from this place of rest
and affirmation we serve, work, give.
There is an open night for anyone to attend tonight, 7.30pm in
the Northcity Whare Karakia. You are very welcome to join us.
And then on Sunday, as well as standing with Cameron and
Ashley as they dedicate Julian to God, we are honoured to
have Frank Naea speak, continuing the Ephesians’ journey,
looking at the ‘eyes of our understanding being
enlightened..’ This is the heart of the gospel, the
empowerment to live from the Tree of Life…
Looking forward to a great year. Aroha nui,

Donald

CONNECT GROUPS | Our connect groups (small groups/
home groups) are currently taking a break and will restart
on the 30th of January. If you are interested in hosting a
group this year please talk to Andy asap. And if you would
like to connect with a group for the year, feel free to also
chat to Andy at Sunday services, or during the week on

KEY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED IN 2019 | We have an urgent
need for a couple of key volunteers for this year. First,
Mike has been doing a fantastic job with our garden, often
on his own, for the last few years. We are keen to find
others to get involved in this to free up Mike to invest
elsewhere in the whānau. Second, we are in great need
for new Mainly Music volunteers - particularly on the
welcome desk, working the computer and sound, or simply
coming along to engage with parents while they relax and
have a cup of coffee afterwards. If you can help with either
role, please talk to or email andy@northcity.co.nz
