Message From Your Director There is a new chapter in the life of the Buick Club of the Redwoods. We have been meeting at the Round Table Pizza in the Marlow Shopping Center or the Round Table on Occidental Road for almost 23 years. Due to a gun being discharged and a person being wounded while at our last meeting, some of us thought a new location might be a smart move. As most of you know, we will be meeting at Mary’s Pizza Shack on Summerfield Road. At this point, I have secured this location until December. If we feel comfortable there, I will ask for an extension until December of 2022. I also notified the Round Table that we would not be coming back and thanked them for the many years of service. There will be a club event on Saturday, the 21st of August. This will be a picnic lunch (bring your own food and drink) at Lake Sonoma. Stay tuned for more details. Hope to see you at Mary’s Pizza on the 11th of August for our next meeting. Keep the pedal down and the wheels turning. Your BCR Director, Bill 3
MINUTES OF THE BUICK CLUB OF THE REDWOODS JULY 14th, 2021 MEETING Director, Bill Costello, called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and welcomed those in attendance to our first official meeting in a long time. Bill thanked Jay for seeing us through the first part of the Covid shutdown. Members present were Keith Brumbley, Bill and Joan Costello, Jay and Julie Emery, Rich and April Kahnberg, Leo Ladner, Jim Liddle and Donna Watts, Bill Marsh and Andrew Wong. Bill recapped the social events of the past months thanking those who helped with the planning. OFFICER’S REPORT Assistant Director, Andrew, had nothing new to report. Treasurer/Membership Director, Rich, reported our membership remains at 23. Rich knows of a prospective member who owns a ’37 or ’38 Buick. He will follow-up. The process of changing authorized signatures at the Exchange Bank to Rich, Jay and Joan has been completed. One check was written last month to Julie to reimburse her for our website fees of $125.70. This payment is good for two years. Publications Director, Leo, was thanked for the great newsletters that he has been putting out. Leo thanked those who have been contributing articles, etc. and reported that Word documents are much preferred by him since he has to retype anything that comes in via email. Leo thanked Andrew for his great photography contributions. Secretary, Joan Costello. There were no recent minutes for approval. Webmaster, Julie, was thanked for doing such a good job with the website. Keith asked if there is a way to check the traffic on the website. Julie will look into it. NEW BUSINESS Bill reviewed some of the upcoming car shows. Bill suggested an event for late July or early August at the Pacific Coast Air Museum in Santa Rosa. They will have a docent to give us a private tour at no cost. Julie mentioned that she saw on their website that they are having a Wheels & Wings Car Show on September 25th and thought it would be a fun event. Members were very interested. More information to follow. 4
April volunteered to organize a progressive dinner and poker run combined event for Saturday, November 13th. Tentative stops are Costello’s for appetizers, Kahnberg’s for main course and Emery’s for dessert. The December event will be our annual Christmas dinner at Cattlemens organized by Dave Bergmann. Jay reported that the event at the Power Museum was a huge success. It was a fun day with large crowds and lots of motors running. April asked if Julie could look into creating an Evite that all members could log into and use for club events. OLD BUSINESS Rich reported that a former member of BCR, Dennis McCabe, has given the club a variety of 1954 through 1956 Buick parts. Rich would like to take them to a swap meet to sell but if anyone in the club is interested, call Rich. The club has a box of various pins and earrings that were sold in the Buick Bugle years ago. April has tried in the past to sell them to different pin dealers without any success. Bill and Joan will take them to the Goodguy’s event in August to see if we can sell the whole lot of them to a pin vendor. The club has some anniversary T-shirts that are now on sale for $10.00. Contact Rich or April if interested. The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 p.m. followed by the 50/50 raffle that was won by Jim and Donna.
