Member Day Site Coordinators SUCCESS STORY “Sam” came to PADS because he had lost his job and he could no longer afford his rent. He was working in the restaurant industry and depended largely upon tips, which had sustained him but then the restaurant closed. While at PADS, he found an evening restaurant job in no time and picked up a second job working through a temp agency during the day. Sam worked diligently with case management to meet his personal goals which included saving money to get another apartment. During a case management meeting, he mentioned he used to live in an apartment complex where he did odd jobs and mainte- nance for discounted rent. During an apartment search, his case manager made a connection with a new property manager who was looking for someone to live on site and perform small maintenance jobs for reduced rent. Sam had saved enough money and was able to move in, working the maintenance job during the day and his restaurant job in the evenings. He has remained stably housed for a year and calls to check in with his PADS case manager every few months. He is looking forward to volunteering and giving back to PADS in the near future.
