MORE PAYMENT OPTIONS NOW AVAILABLE
We are very pleased to announce that beginning this month, Community Care clients who
receive Community Support Services bills will be able to pay their invoices online, as well as through
telephone banking or at a teller at their bank. In the next couple of weeks, all major financial institutions
will be set up to offer such options for payment of Community Care invoices.

invoice) to ensure that payments are credited to the correct account. For online payment, clients need
to choose “Community Care Kawartha Lakes” and enter the client number. Sample instructions will be
sent to clients with their invoices this month.

CIBC CONTINUES SUPPORT OF CANCER PROGRAMS
Community Care’s Hospice Services has once again received generous financial backing for
cancer support programming. The Lindsay branch of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC)
recently presented a $5,000 gift for Hospice cancer support programs. This was the CIBC’s fourth
consecutive annual $5,000 gift towards the programs.
Each month, Hospice presents the Living With Cancer program, as well as the Cancer Support
Group. Each program fills vital needs for local residents. Like all of Hospice’s programs, the services are
free of charge, and community support allows the organization to offer such programs that are not
covered by core government funding.

JOAN AND LEN ARE OUR LATEST SHINING STARS
Staff from Community Support Services collaborated earlier this month to present Shining Star
awards to Director of Community Support Services Joan Skelton and her husband Len, who is a valued
volunteer with our organization. Joan and Len were both recognized for the countless efforts they make
in going “above and beyond” when it comes to Community Care needs and activities. These often
include after-hours incidents and repair jobs that require Len’s MacGyver-like talents, and they both
always respond in a positive and quick manner.
Congratulations and thanks to both of our stars. If anyone would like to nominate a staff or
volunteer for a Shining Star in recognition of outstanding effort, contact Toula Murchie of the
Community Care Foundation (705-324-7323 ext 163). A $25 donation with each nomination supports
the Foundation.
