Welcome Barbara Schamber, SP Provincial Leader Gloria Kent Stevenson Liturgy of the Word Please be seated. First Reading Wisdom 14: 3-4 Mary Wilson, SP Your Providence, O God, is what steers the ship. You have opened a pathway even through the sea; A safe path over the waves, showing that you can save whatever happens, So that even without skill a person may sail abroad. Responsorial Psalm (Psalm 139) Virginia Miller, SP 3 3
Second Reading Providence Vision Charlene Hudon, SP Through the centuries Providence has been the symbol of the creative activity of God who calls us into being, sustains, nourishes, challenges and lures all creation toward its final fulfillment. It is the word which proclaims God’s enduring relationship and involvement with all creation. Providence is God’s face unfailingly turned toward the world. But the mystery of Providence is even larger and more profound for the mystery of Providence is incomplete without our response. Providence is the mystery of God who is actively engaged with us - calling us to enter into the creative activity of recreating the face of the earth. It is the mystery of God who eagerly awaits our human response. Providence is not the mystery of a God who plans everything, handing it down to us creatures. Providence is, rather, the name of God who makes all things possible. Women of Providence in Collaboration 4 4
Gospel Alleluia Kent Stevenson Gospel Matthew 25: 34-40 Karin Dufault, SP A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew When the Son of Man comes in his glory amid all the fiery presence of heaven, he will ascend the throne he had surrendered for us, and all humankind will be assembled there. Then he will say to those at his right, “Come, beloved of God. Welcome! Take the heritage prepared for you since long before there was space or time. I was hungry and you fed me; you slaked my thirst. I was outcast, but you drew me in, naked but you clothed me, sick but not alone, imprisoned, yet you visited me unashamed… I give my word: whenever you served any of my loved ones whom the world dismissed, you served me.” 5 5
Reflection Karin Dufault, SP Congregational Leader Ceremony of Renewal of Vows Sister Barbara Schamber: Sisters, through our public consecration to God as members of the Sisters of Providence, we hope to attain the fullness of our baptismal commitment. Our vows of chastity, poverty and obedience, freely taken, are our way of embracing a life of love in response to the call of Jesus Christ. Faithful to the charism of our foundress, we seek to be of service to God’s people. Today we wish again to publicly affirm your intention of following Christ in religious life as Sisters of Providence. Jubilarians: I, ____, wishing to renew my consecration to God and to become the servant of the poor, willingly make anew to God the perpetual vows of chastity, poverty and obedience, under the authority of the Congregational Leader and according to the Constitutions of the Congregation of the Sisters of Providence. Congregational Response: Sisters, as your family, friends, associates and community members, we thank you for who you are and for all you have done so generously in your service for others. May all the good you have caused to happen be returned to you in abundant blessing. With you we offer to God, a prayer of thanks and praise. 6 6
Prayers of the Faithful Response: Provident God, hear our prayer. (Tagalog): With trust in your Providence, O God, we ask you to fill your Church and all your people with the peace you have promised. We pray to the Lord. (Vietnamese): As we celebrate these Sisters on their day of Jubilee, we praise you for your compassionate love, alive and active in them through their years of service to people in need. We pray to the Lord. (Spanish): With gratitude, we remember the families of the Jubilarians, those members who are with us today, as well those who have gone before them. We pray to the Lord. (French): Loving and just God, may the lives of the Jubilarians be a source of healing and wholeness for those whose lives have been devalued, disregarded, or exploited by cruel and unjust persons and structures. We pray to the Lord. (English): We praise you, God, for your creative love which brought forth all the creatures with whom we share Earth, our common home; and we ask you to guide us in doing our part to protect and restore them. We pray to the Lord. 7 7
Liturgy of the Eucharist Presentation of the Gifts Patty and Terry Sullivan Symbolism of Gifts Bread and Wine The celebration of the Eucharist is central to our lives and is physically symbolized by the offering of bread and wine that become the Body and Blood of Christ during the Eucharist. These gifts are reminiscent of Jesus’ breaking of the bread and sharing of the cup with friends at the Last Supper. The Icon of Mary, the Sorrowful Mother The icon entitled, “Mother, Weep Not for Me,” symbolizes the spirituality of our religious congregation and devotion to Mary, the Mother of Sorrows. It reflects the quality and importance of standing in solidarity with those who are suffering. Constitutions and Rules of the Sisters of Providence The Constitutions and Rules of the Sisters of Providence describe our way of life and deep spiritual and apostolic roots which fortify us for embracing “the now and the future” in hope and loving service to those who are poor and suffering. Photo of Sister Margarita Acosta, SP Sister Margarita Acosta was a beloved member of the 60th jubilee class who left an indelible impression on all who met her. She was bright, creative and delightful with an infectious laugh. She ministered as a teacher and a hospital administrator before she died in 1995. Sister Margarita is with us in spirit today. 8 8

Vince Pastro Barbara Schamber, SP May the God of mercy and compassion inspire you to be persons of hope. May you walk lovingly among the people you serve. May you be one with them. May compassion inspire you to care for those who are vulnerable and experiencing hardship. May others see your care, and may they catch your gift, your fire, your passion. May your soul be nourished by the work you do and by the service you provide. May your heart be uplifted in the struggles you endure. May the Mission and its values challenge and sustain you.
