Where we started What we have achieve Bristol works well as a city of innovation So we built our own city centre fibre back bone network to support new generation technology research and experimentation Wireless Network IoT Network Cloud Infrastructure Optical Network 1Gbps access network 54 Fiber-connected HPC and commodity 144-fiber core network lamppost compute and storage Wi-Fi, LTE, LTE-A, connecting 4 nodes Clusters & 1500 sensors centralised & edge 60Ghz, Massive MIMO
What have we learnt? • Testing the Technology helped us understand the capability • It takes longer than you think • We need to think about the explosion of Wireless connectivity at a city wide level • We need to put the PEOPLE first and forefront • We need to START with the problems, not the technology • We need to the put the ETHICS and PRIVACY at the heart of each project • We need to understand the key BUSINESS CASE • We need to collaborate to achieve Smarter ways to make our city work • We can not do this alone
