GETTING THE JOB DONE The 2018-19 Budget reflects the Andrews Government commitment to ensuring that every Victorian who can work gets to experience the dignity and sense of purpose that come with a job.

JOBS VICTORIA: INCREASING EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR LONG TERM JOBSEEKERS Jobs Victoria supported over 6,000 Victorians into jobs $21.9 million boost in 2018/19 Budget to help jobseekers $90 million total commitment to Jobs Victoria Charity, Margaret, Rieta and Salwa found their first jobs at Werribee Open Range Zoo with support from Jobs Victoria
JOBS VICTORIA: INCREASING EMPLOYMENT INCLUSION ON VICTORIA’S MAJOR PROJECTS Almost 1,000 apprentices, trainees and engineering cadets have completed 775,000 hours of work on 31 major projects $6 million boost in 2018/19 Budget to get more people working on major projects Expected to generate 3,560 opportunities for apprentices, trainees and cadets Manu is one of the 40 apprentices, trainees and engineering cadets working on the Mernda Rail project

SOCIAL PROCUREMENT FRAMEWORK Driving social impact through government procurement decisions Applies to all goods, services and construction, including the $2.5 billion in new projects announced in the 2018/19 Budget An Australian-first: creating jobs for people facing barriers to employment Yarra View Nursery, a wholesale social enterprise nursery that employs people with disability, has a major contract with the Level Crossing Removal Authority
ACTIVATING FISHERMANS BEND A world class engineering and advanced manufacturing hub in Fishermans Bend $20.4 million in 2018/19 Budget to stimulate economic activity and job creation on the site Economic analysis and policy work will be undertaken, including master The University of Melbourne’s new School of planning and site readiness works Engineering campus will open on the site in the early 2020s
ADVANCING VICTORIAN MANUFACTURING Manufacturing employs more than 286,000 people and is one of the largest providers of full-time jobs $120 million support has helped create over 6,000 jobs and generate more than $1.6 billion in private investment 15 months of consecutive growth - longest run since 2001 Holden Special Vehicles has set up a new production line to modify imported vehicles and will employ 50 new workers
STRENGTHENING VICTORIA’S FUTURE INDUSTRIES 162,400 or almost half of all new jobs in Victoria created in future industry sectors since November 2014 $2.9 million allocated in 2018/19 Budget will support more jobs in the defence manufacturing sector This builds on investments over the past three years to grow future industries and create new jobs Australian Defence Apparel makes uniforms for the Australian Defence Force at their Bendigo manufacturing facility
