This Month's Spotlight "Poetry & the Violin" April 18 & 25, 2021, 5:00 PM (Eastern) on Zoom When you hear the word "poetry", what – or who – comes to mind? Alice Walker? Gwendolyn Brooks? Nikki Giovanni? Emily Dickinson? Langston Hughes? Perhaps E. E. Cummings, a great example of non-traditional poetry. He experimented with fragmented lines, odd spellings, and single letters in a line, a style known as Dada. Both poetry and music are about flow, rhythm, meaning, and expression. Music, sounds, and even paintings have been described as poems. If it has rhythm and structure, it is poetry. Thus, music is poetry. We are poetry. You’ll hear poetry performances from: Amanda Kemp Dominique Jordan of Tru2You Frances Veri Krystal Folkestad (nee Grant) Mimi Shapiro Tabitha Weeks I will accompany on violin, with Matthew Woodson on percussion. We will have a special segment highlighting the work of Crispus Attucks Community Center in Lancaster, PA. ALL of the artists contributing to this concert series have been involved with programs there. Click HERE to reserve your seat! Click HERE to donate! Your generosity makes it possible for us to continue providing this special programming for you. This is a "pay what you can" series, and a $20+ donation will earn you a free gift! “POETRY IS WHEN AN EMOTION HAS FOUND ITS THOUGHT AND THE THOUGHT HAS FOUND WORDS.” ~ROBERT FROST
